We stayed only outside

But extreme beauty in the area. Go Up the stairs , and this is for free, and extraordinary view worthy og 5 stars. Amazing. We have now Bern in gmund for two Days because og the beauty of the area.

IT is also much warmer temperature in gmund than in ex. Katschberg.

very interesting castle in a not-to-miss small city of Gmund

absolute interesting castle as well as all other places to see in the wonderfull small city of Gmund ( private museum of Porsche with very sympathic owner, ..)

An unusual setting for a great restaurant, why eye candy? when you enter the court yard you already are walking into a huge art installation, the restaurant is wonderfully decorated in art and memorabilia, it is well worth a visit, the food is delicious and the setting is awesome

Nice Castle , good food

We went to the caste to eat on Tuesday (16/08) afternoon. The kitchen is open from 11h30-20h00. So we could eat at 15h00. Nice meal in a nice surroundings.

The town is better!

The view from "Alte Burg" is great, but the ols castle as such is not very exciting. But, the historic town of Gmünd right underneath the castle is wonderful! Take a walk through the small streets of this neat town - you will love it. Tons of art shops and galleries and very friendly people!

You can't miss Alte Burg as you drive through the charming place Gmund.
There is a restaurant there. Climbed up the tower which gave great views.
Spooky atmospheric Castle.
Love the ambience.

Worth the climb, but the only attraction is the restaurant

After our visit to the restaurant there we explored the rest of the "Alte Burg" but were not impressed. It was claimed that the "Alte Burg was used frequently for theater events, but our impression was one of gloom, dust, overdue maintenance and dilapidated furniture strewn around. Only one part of the building seemed to be used more frequently. A visit of the "Alte Burg" is worth the climb for the view, the restaurant and exploring the nooks and passages of the building, but not more than that.
