About
Gorgeous Lake Kel-Suu was formed thousands years ago due to destruction of the mountain massif. It is located in Kok-Kiya valley (3 520 m), Naryn region, close to the border with China. Particular highlight of trip to the lake is splendid views on the way: At-bashi range, Eki-Naryn canyon (two rivers confluence Small Naryn and Naryn, Koshoi-Korgon fortress of VIII-X century, At-bashy village.

We organized the trip via CBT Naryn. Aizhan was very helpful with all the arrangements for our trip to Kel Suu. Also very responsive and always smiling.
I definitely recommend CBT Naryn to anyone visiting the region.

Surprisingly, not many tourist come to this amazing place. It is near China border, hence requires permit to enter. The journey to reach Kel Suu is breathtakingly beautiful. From camp site to lake is about 1.5 hr trek. We were little disappointed by color of lake, apparently we were early by few days, snow was still melting. But I tell you DO NOT MISS IT. Journey is still worth it.

I and with my friend we did 3 days trip to the lake from Bishkek. To come here you will need a border permit, because this remote area is close to the border of China. Our tour organised with Pegas Adventure local tour company, they can arrange everything. Just you mist to tell them which places you want, they can arrange custom tours. We loved their services. For this kind of adventure tour, you should be ready for overnight stays in tents if you plan to spend a few days near Köl-Suu Lake and offroad 130km. But we stayed in a yurt at the valley. Yurt camp is organized during the summer time, based in the beautiful valley downstream from the lake. Horseback short trips possible also from yurt camp to the lake. It takes 1 hrs one way. Hiking also easy same distance.

(I was there in July 2021, but the review process doesn't let you specify a date that far back.)

Lots of enthusiasm for Kel Suu here in the reviews, I don't share it. Yes, it's a nice lake to look at, but after thirty minutes, then what?

Within the context of all the scenery K, has to offer, it makes no sense to me to devote the time and effort to go here just to see this lake. I suppose you could do the horse-riding thing to make it more 'fun', but there's lots of other places to do horse-riding that don't require a timed permit and a long car trip.

I hiked from the yurt camps to the lake, and then back and stayed in the Kubat Tour camp. Hike took a few hours. Actually, there's a road all the way to the edge of the lake, so no requirement to hike there.

The first 60km of the drive to the lake from Naryn were very scenic. I recommend doing this drive, and then turn around and go back to Naryn.

And about Kubat tour, don't stay at his camp. Meals are a joke. My 'lunch' was just the usual bread/tomato/cukes/candy spread that sets up every K meal. There was no actual separate dish that served as a lunch.

Kyrgyzstan’s nature is almost unspoiled, it is one of the most beautiful spots in the world for hiking and horse riding. For me, one of the most fascinating and at the same time hard-to-reach place in Kyrgyzstan is the Kok-Kiya valley in the border zone of the Naryn region, which main sightseeing is Lake Kel-Suu with a stunning view of the greenish water in the contrasts with the surrounding rocks. I booked 2 days tour with MEGA TOUR company from Naryn. Our driver pick up us from the hotel. First day reach to the yurt camp in Kok kyia valley. Next day go to the lake by walking or by horse 3 hours. We ride a horse, it was amazing experience. Never ride a horse, our guide he helped us always and horses are calm easy to ride.

To come here need border permits, because its borders with China. Company made us 20$ per person. Easy to contact on FB

Overall an amazing experience I would recommend to everyone. It was very worth it, both in terms of experience and for its costs.

Kel Suu is located in the remote area of Aksai and Kok-Kiya valleys, almost at Kyrgyz-Chinese borders. It's an amazing place with breathtaking atmosphere at any time of the day. Once you reach the yurt camps at Kurumduk valley, or build your ow tent camp, the lake is relatively easy to reach, without significants climbs. Lake is located 5 kilometres from the yurt camps and round trip should take approximately 3 hours. Even though the route is easy, altitude makes the hike slightly more challenging. But you may hire the guide and horses at the camps. Lakes is definitely worth of the trip from Bishkek, as you may visit even other interesting location at At Bashi region - Silk Road caravansarai Tash Rabat or highest Tian Shan waterfall. Border permit is necessary to visit the lake! The level of water changes year to year. If you want to visit the lake while it's full of water, feel free to ask before your trip.

Wow! The view is absolutely different from other territories. Kel-Suu translated as Kel - coming , Suu- water. So the water fill up and goes away. Two year ago the lake was empty, but the view was still magic. If you will come to Kyrgyzstan, Kel - Suu is must visit place. Certainly, it's quite far from Bishkek. You need the whole day or two days to get there. Despite, it is worthy!!!!
