The vallee de Mai is a UNESCO world heritage site and a must-see on your trip to Seychelles. Our private tour with Albert was amazing. He does not only have an incredible knowledge about seychelles’ nature and culture, he is also very friendly and funny. He took us on a walk for around 1hour while he told us everything about the coco de mer and other trees and species you can find in The Vallee de Mai as well as other interesting facts and hilarious anecdotes and myths about Seychelles. We noticed how much Albert loves his country and its nature, and it was very engaging. 1000 rupees are a reasonable price for such a great experience.

It is quite overrated, we liked some trails in Mahe and La Digue much more than Vallee de Mai. It is nice to see Coco de mer but it is not the only place where you can do so. If you are tight with time, don’t worry about missing this one.

The unique Vallée de Mai is an absolute must see if you visit Praslin in the Seychelles – and UNESCO site and our highlight on this island. We booked one of the personal tour guides (remember to bring cash, they do not accept card) - he had great knowledge about the history of this beautiful place and the unique wildlife, including the male and female Coco de Mer palms – without a guide you’ll miss a lot and we had never have found and seen the black parrots and the many other birds and reptiles without him. The walk is easy (no special footwear is needed) and took about an hour.

We enjoyed our visit to Valle De Mai especially thanks to local guide Dora. We highly recommend starting off with a 1hr guided tour and then continuing alone because with no guide, many of the beauties of the place are lost. You will not see all the amazing small animals that are unique and fundamental to the ecosystem. Also, you would never find out how the Coco de Mer palm trees really work. Must see and must do place.

i read up a lot about this, but nothing can prepare you for the sight. its really like Jurassic park. the palm are of course the favorites. we were lucky, it did not rain then but one has to be prepared. we did not see much wildlife but believe that we hear the parrots.

It’s a beautiful and impressive place to walk around. We came at 10 am so it was not too humid and crowded. There are several trails you can choose from in this park, depending on your condition and interests. We went with our guide Chakira and I absolutely recommend to walk with a guide. She told us all about the endemic species like the Coco de Mer and palms. She pointed out all kinds of birds and insects we would have missed without her. We were lucky and saw the black parrot and a Tenreks (mammal) during our visit.
