Visiting this artists studio is something that will remain with me for a lifetime...I'm in awe of his work, his talent and his humbleness! It's not the size of the sculptures it's the remarkable detail that you can only see if you visit.

The sculptures are beautiful and impressive. There is nothing for sale, and it's nice. The explanation are a little but too technical and won't be interesting for kids. For adults: worth spending the 40 minutes stop. fair price (5 Euro for adult, 3 for child). e

A beautiful road trip through the mountains to Axos, from Rhethymnon, and this exhibition doesn't disappoint. The sculptures are utterly amazing, the sheer size of them alone is incredible. We were shown round by the brother of the artist who explained the story behind each exhibit. The sculptures are amazing, however it is the passion, emotion and real story behind... More

We were on our way from Heraklion to Rethymno when we came across this lovely museum found in Axos Mylopotamou. The artist Mr. Koutantos is a professional artist giving soul to his wood creations. He was telling us that he is self- taught since very young. His work is amazing and he does everything by using his hammer and chisel... More

This is a private museum built and owned by Georgios and his brother, who show their visitors around personally and explain the origins and the time frame for carving every... More

What a charming gifted man he has carved some beautiful statues, animals a fantastic Giant Eagle. He takes you round the museum himself explaining how and why he carved some of the statues. It was interesting for young and old and we were also given a free drink. An unforgettable experience, well worth a visit.
