We stayed in the hotel at the top of the mountain and we absolutely loved it. It's around 3km to get down to the Valley of the Nuns but it's very rewarding walk. The views both from the valley as well as from the top...More

We visited the valley twenty years ago. We drove the very twisting narrow road, and rounding a corner we were awed by the spectacular view. We drove down to the tiny village at the bottom of the valley and from that quaint location admired the...More

Visited again recently the views take your breath away. The little climb up from the restaurant is well worth it. Safe viewing platform.

We do Curral took the number 81 bus (Rodoeste) from Funchal Centre. Euros 3.35 each way (you cannot buy a return ticket!) and travelled to Eira do Serrado a view point with a lovely cafe and hotel. The ride up here is stunning and the...More

Views to die for if you can survive the steep steps. Worth it in the end. There is disabled access that gives partial access.

An interesting drive up from Funchal on twisty roads. Lovely views and a traditional style cafe selling lots of chestnut products. Staff a bit pushy but prices OK.

We came there for lunch (1-2 p.m.). The sun was shining, the clouds were under the feet :) So, try this part of the day, but anyway it's hard to guess the weather ir Madeira. You should be ready for anything

As indicated in other comments, if you just want to "visit" the Nuns' Valley, principally Eira to Serrado and the road between it and Funchal, then you can do this and other things in one day. However, if you also want to... More
