First of all... Do NOT take that turn into the walled street... Go up the hill into the free parking lot with the sculpture of the glassblower and walk downhill to the museum. It is minimal with info in Italian but gives you an idea of the importance of this craft to daily life. There are no demonstrations or hands on activities, but there are some examples of bottles for Chianti and video of the women who make the straw wrapping. The shop has precious few items for sale. Admission is 4 Euros pp.

Fun visit to this glass museum in the center of Piegaro. Our grandsons 10 and 8 were very interested in the history relayed to us by Colleen our local guide.

We enjoyed seeing where glass was made a long time ago but we were disappointed that there wasn't much to buy.

We drove from Assisi today (Tuesday 28 May), specifically to visit the glass museum, only to find it closed. Before setting out we had checked opening times (10am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm) and arrived at 11:00am. The place was deserted, no-one around, no notice on the door etc.
Basically a complete waste of our time. Italy relies on tourism but time and again we find places are closed.

A very informative and interesting museum which would have benefited from more translation on the information boards. Looked relatively new and well designed and allow about an hour for a good look around the two levels.

boring and ordinary
. There is no clear theme to the layout which consists og lots of displays of glass bottles but no real explanation of anything.

A visit to Piegaro is enhanced by a tour of this museum. Full of background and history of Piegaro, this is a must if you want to know all about the ancient tradition of glass in the region.

While in Piegaro, Tom Webb, owner of L'Antica Vetreria gave us a tour of the Museo del Vetro. This museum provided an interesting overview of glass blowing and making. Tom was able to provide a lot about the history of glass making in Piegaro.
