How often can you sit on the beach with a story-book castle as backdrop?

The uniqueness of this beach was a good choice after a visit to Moni Preveli. There were plenty of chair sets available and only 6 EUR for the day – a true bargain.

The beach is closer to white-sand (not black rocky sand) but not super white or soft. Water was clean, clear and very calm the day we went. This is not the most beautiful beach, but a good clean utility beach with all the amenities and probably a great beach for families.

PS: Do not use the grim WCs in the parking lot by the castle – much better restrooms at the Taverna located on beach.

One of the best beaches I have been to in a long while truly amazing and very warm water and some lovely fish and it was very quiet only me and my family on the beach and a nice place to eat and get a drink nearby.

Fantastic beautiful beach, the water is so clean and crystal clear. Sandy, no stones. Beautiful sunset in the evening. You can rent sun bed and have a great lunch at the beach restaurant

Went here after hiking the Imbros Gorge. The beach is nice, sandy and with a slow drop off. Great way to cool off after the hike. You can rent a two person umbrella seating for 6 euros. I wouldn't rave about the beach, but still very nice.

This beach is a bit off the beaten path and challenging to get to. We drove with our rental car through the mountains, navigating some seriously sharp turns to get here. The castle was under some sort of renovation, with some construction materials left in front of it, but the side facing the beach was fine for photos as no construction materials were visible. The abandoned castle is next to a lovely sandy beach. In the morning, there were very few people there. As the day went on, I saw quite a few locals at the beach and some tourists but not a ton. This is an organized beach with a beach bar, bathrooms etc. If you want to use the sun loungers and beach umbrellas, you have to pay as usual. Do make a note that the umbrellas are made of a very porous material, so lather up the sunscreen as they don't provide good shade from the sun. The water in late June was surprisingly cold! However, we still swam in the Libyan Sea. How could we not? We had lunch at the taverna that's a short walk from the beach and faces the sea. It was a nice way to wrap up an excellent day at the beach.

The colour of the sea is amazing here. Next stop Lybia! Well worth a visit. Cone here after the Imbros gorge to rest those tired muscles. Have lunch at one of the excellent tavernas.

A lovely little secluded beach. Hardly anyone else there when we were there; the water’s clear and warm and there’s a few Greek tavernas within walking distance! A great place!

Frangokastello is for me a magical place. Franks, Normans, Saracenes, Eastern Romans still dwelling the corridors and the bastions of the well preserved castle. The beach underneath is crystal clear- recommended). Half of it offers sun beds/ umbrellas ( the combo goes for 8-10€) and in the other half you can set down for free using your own shade-or not! Or visit the nearby cafe and get a drink or coffee etc. Usually protected from strong wind gusts, offers a nice relaxing view of the Libyan Sea.
PS. Last time the Castle was closed for restoration, guess it must be finished by the end of 2020. Check with the locals of planning a tour inside.
