This must be the most photographed location in Namibia. We arrived before the tourists for the sunrise. The walk to the location is quite easy and worth it. The light changes the colour of the sand.

The whole Sussussvlei experience was, in the main, good. We got there early morning using a private entrance from Kulala Desert lodge although there were a lot of people already there when we arrived. There should be more management of the location as people wander...More

Vlei is a short hike from the parking area. Signage is minimal, but we we able to follow footprints of previous visitors. We had the entire hike to ourselves, even at mid-morning.

My tip: Get to the hidden vlei early in the morning or late afternoons for best photography light. You have endless photography opportunities and composition options - enjoy and leave yourself ENOUGH time here just to wander this amazing sight.

amazing to be surrounded by these magnificent dunes while standing on cracked arid soil. We would recommend taking the shuttle rather than risk your own car.

After climbing 'Big Daddy' this was a wonderful chance to stop and take in another aspect of the awe inspiring beauty of the desert. The punishing drought has left this area without water for 7years. Looking like sculptures these trees deserve respect for their age...More

We enjoyed Deadvlei very much but were very annoyed by the many, may noisy Chinese people who were photographing each other.

Bit of a trek from the carpark but worth the walk. Get there early before the crowds. Not sure if it will be around much longer as people do not abide by the requests not to climb on these beautiful trees.

Looking like a dried-up lake of salt, with old dead trees as witness to the climate change that killed them off. An amazing experience and a fantastic place to take pictures. Glad it wasn't too hot when we were there, though!
