To see this part of history is a great honor. To experience something of what the people who lived here once experienced is truly magnificant. We can really learn from them and count our blessings.

Really cheap, and there are some little signs with explainations in english and in german. Nothing much left from the castle but the view over the Bastei bridge and the mountains around is very nice. It was not as crowded as the bridge.

Neurathen Castle was located as a observation fortress in the sandstone rock formations of the Bastei. First mentioned in 1755, the remnants of the castle include rooms and staircases carved into the rocks, a cistern and catapult. The views acrid the Elbe River and the surrounding National Park are wonderful. There is a small admission charge(2€) to explore the area. Watch your step as the pathways and metal staircases are irregular and uneven.

The Bastei Bridge is amazing. If you have been to Zhangjiajie, China then you can relate to this place. The views are amazing and the place is really well maintained. If you are afraid of heights then not ideal. You can also hike in this area and i must say that the views are stunning.
Be safe and enjoy being here in nature. If you drive here, there is ample Parking (not expensive). Can pay using cash €

These are the scant remains of a castle with amazing views. It is inexpensive (only 2€) but very interesting. It is fun simply to climb around the remains. I wouldn't make a special trip just for this, but if you're already at the Bastei Bridge, then definitely stop in.

The climb up was so completely worth it that you would thank yourself for the climb. The views are breathtaking, not like the real world, the river and the countryside is unbelievable.

As long as you time your visit to avoid the bus loads busy ticking this off their list, the castle is well worth a visit. Just above the iconic Bastei bridge, there is not a great deal of the castle left. The sheer drops below the metal walkways are in part not for the faint-hearted, but the views are incredible, even on a damp November day. At €2 for an adult, definitely worth it.

Must visit place if you are anywhere in Sachsen. I love "stone" cities and this is one of it. Unforgetable views to Sachsen valley, Lilienstein, Königstein...

The Neurathen castle trail is a continuation of Bastei Bridge trail. It is a 1/2 hour one-way loop of an exposed into an air combination of stairs and metal bridges. There are railings everywhere so even for a scary-chicken like me it was OK. It needs to pay €2 entrance fee at the end of the Bastei Bridge where the trail starts (end ends). We are definitively recommending it for an excellent views!!! of Bastei Bridge and more.
