About
You might hear this garden before you see it, its delightfully eccentric owner, Anthony Hunte BCH, plays classical music throughout the garden. This is the working end of old Castle Grant plantation, where sugar cane was once processed into syrup. Step through the gate and you'll soon tread on the old weigh bridge, where loads of cane were tallied. Just past the old stone outbuildings, where statues lurk among exotic plants, you'll find yourself on the lip of a great, hemispherical sinkhole in the limestone substrate. Steps lead down and paths branch out through an exquisite profusion of flowering plants, with towering trees around the edges. Both here and farther along the top are a series of small secret gardens, where you can sit to absorb the serenity and enjoy a picnic. Be sure to climb the upper level steps to Mr. Hunte's house, a transformation of the old stables. He'll invite you for refreshments-including his legendary rum punch or freshly made lemonade (for sale).

Beautiful exotic gardens, a must see
Beautiful exotic gardens set in a gully. An enchanting experience as ambient music plays whilst you amble around down into the base of the gully and then back up to Anthony the owners veranda for a chat and a wee jot of his own branded rum. A must do experience in Barbados on holiday. The drive there through villages of chattels and up steep windy roads is half the adventure.

    Beautiful Botanical gardens
This is an absolute must see when you visit Barbados!!Make sure to allow yourself plenty of time to relax and enjoy all the beautiful plants, trees, flowers and hidden gems all over the gardens. There are plenty of seats scattered throughout the gardens to soak in the amazing sights and sounds of the birds and soft music. When you are done exploring the gardens you may be lucky enough to meet Mr Anthony Hunte himself and sit down in his garden house and enjoy a lovely chat with him,he actually thought me about the Chattlelhouses on Barbados and gave me a book to read about them in his garden❤️ We finished our day with a glass of his tasty ginger lemonade and locally made cake.

    Delightful tropical garden experience
WONDERFUL! So beautiful and tranquil with the most stunning plants and cozy shady corners. We met the owner Anthony Hunt who was so kind and welcoming. There's a girt shop where they sell wonderful Hunts Garden rum and other nice gifts. Allow about 1.5h to really soak up the tropical magisty of the place.

    Enchanting and unique
Huntes gardens and house are magical. This was my second visit and it was as beautiful and peaceful as I remembered. The garden is so colourful and relaxing but what makes it unique is to visit the house and to chat with the owner Anthony, who is so welcoming and interesting. I could stay there all day. He’s created a wonderful haven. Highly recommended!

    A feast for the eyes.
So many tropical plants to see and plenty of seating in the grounds to sit and enjoy the experience. We also spent time with the owner Anthony Hunte in his house at the top of the garden and enjoyed tea with him. Well worth the time to visit.

Magical Hunte's Gardens. A tranquil tropical delight with classical music, wonderful flowers and tropical sounds.
Magnificent Hunte's Gardens. Magical, enchanting and delightful. A trip here is an absolute must. Anthony Hunte is an amazing man and his knowledge knows no bounds. View the gardens at your leisure whilst listening to classical music abd bird song. Just spend time sitting and relaxing as there is no rush. Cold drinks, tea and cake are available after whilst in the company of the owner, Anthony. Visiting here is a must for anyone lucky enough to be in Barbados. P.S. thank you for funding my purse!!

    What a treat!
Don’t hesitate to visit Hunte’s Gardens! It’s a tropical oasis, cool, refreshing, exotic and fabulous. All signposts in the north of the island at least l seem to lead there, so follow! Take BBD cash as modern technology is not the priority here - fair enough! Just enjoy the cool sink hole turned tropical paradise. Even to the uninitiated in tropical gardens and gardening, this is a real treat. Wander around the palm trees and gorgeous flowers with strategic seating calling your name around every corner. And make sure to leave time for a fabulous chat and a home made lemonade or bottle of beer with the owner and mastermind Anthony Hunte himself. A delight!

    Beautiful and Relaxing. A MUST
Hunte’s Gardens was an absolutely beautiful and relaxing experience. Anthony Hunte created art when building these gardens. You’ll find layers of flowers, trees, and palms all around the place. There are many areas to sit and take in the beauty from many different angles. After exploring, we visited the gift shop where Anthony himself (the owner and creator) was there and offered us some rum to taste. Later, we sat down again in the gardens to have our snack sandwiches. We had a great conversation as well while sitting and enjoying the view a little bit more. Bring cash to pay for entrance, gifts, and refreshments.

    Lost for words
The Fuana in this place was amazing. I particularly like the statue themed hidden corners. Words cannot express the imagery of this place. A must see when visiting. The owner was very welcoming, we sat and chat as if we were old friends.

This place is absolutely magical...and clearly the magician is Mr. Anthony Hunte himself.
The garden has been open to the public since 2007. 6 people (Mr. Hunte and 5 workers) created this mecca. The garden is about 2 1/2 acres. You enter at the top...and wind your way down to the sinkhole bottom. Lots of places to sit and reflect.
We met Mr. Hunte as we arrived. He's 82-and a bundle of energy. We met up with him again at his home to drink a glass of rum with him, which he made sure to tell us to sip!!! We are from the United States-and he really wanted to discuss politics with us-which we definitely do NOT do on a vacation!! Escape reality always-and this is a fabulous place to do just that.
This is a do not miss place!!!

Hunte’s Garden is a peaceful paradise where you can easily spend a few hours at your leisure, exploring the little seated areas throughout. I went in search of a daytime activity where I could find shade! The gardens are so colorful and it has an enchanted feeling to it. Anthony Hunte the owner was wonderful with the visitors and took the time to have a chat and give other recommendations. I had a nice coffee to relax after wandering the gardens for a few hours. If you like nature and plants, you’ll enjoy yourself- I saw several lizards, and a hummingbird on its tiny nest! Ideal place to spend a few hours - bring a book and enjoy the birdsong. Good idea to wear insect repellent and also check your GPS route as Waze brought me on some really bumpy (destroyed) small roads.

One of the most wonderful places in the World. You cannot visit Barbados and not visit Huntes. If Mr Hunte is on his verandah holding court you must sit and talk to him, he is utterly fascinating. His knowledge of the gardens is amazing but he is also a true character full of stories about the island.

This is the most amazing magical garden i have ever visited. I have some mobility issues but even though the garden is terraced there are fabulous sitting areas all of the way round. The icing on the cake was meeting the owner and designer, Anthony Hunte. Please visit if you go to Barbados you will not be disappointed

Absolutely beautiful gardens to visit and wander around for an hour or so. How Mr Hunte achieved this with only 5 other people is quite astonishing. You enter at the top of the garden then walk down and through the various pathways to the bottom of what was a sink hole. There are many superb plants, trees and shrubs to view on the way through the garden. There are also many quiet sitting areas where you can just listen to the background music and take in all the views. You can sometimes see humming birds, but we did not see any on this visit. We did see a cane toad, together with a number of other native birds and lots of millipedes. This garden is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy gardens. Toilets are available and there is the opportunity to have a cooling drink an if you are lucky, a chat with Mr Hunte.

Wow, just wow!! A unique tropical rain forest manicured to the max with an incredible aura to the location. It actually softly rained whilst we were there and 28degrees which really added to the experience... umbrellas can be loaned at reception if desired.
Stacked with all manner of tropical plants shrubs and trees also wildlife.
Sat on the deck with the wonderful Anthony and drank rum, coffee and cakes, just wonderful.
You must visit this diamond of a place and in the knowledge that the monies are reinvested into its upkeep and continuation...

Absolutely beautiful place to go if you’re in Barbados! We went here while on a cruise and do not regret it. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from the port but you do not want to miss it! Visiting this paradise is a must.

This is a magical place. So many secluded seats for 1, 2 or 4 weary travelers. So many flowers, especially anthurium. So many trees. So many paths. This fallen cave resurrected with floral life must be experienced. Bring a book or your lover; find your nook.

We visit here every time we come to the island and, without fail, it does not disappoint. The peace and tranquility, the soft music and glorious plants are all topped off with a long time chilling out on the veranda. Highly recommend the rum punch and lemon and ginger. Anthony Hunte is so lovely, welcoming, knowledgeable and generous with his time, making sure everyone is spoken to and welcomed. Highlight of my holiday. Thank you. Also great place to buy gifts to take home.
