We stopped off here after the wildlife preserve. I’m glad we didn’t drive a far distance because there isn’t much to see here besides the ruins which are fenced off so you can’t even take nice pictures. It is advertised as “free” however there’s a parking fee which was ridiculous since there is absolutely no car park area at all. Definitely don’t waste your time and money here.

An interesting place to see. I enjoyed the view and the mahogany forest, but the trek to just see this is not worth the visit as they are many other interesting things to see in Barbados. This was part of a selected tour offered through a cruise ship that was poorly described for what we received.

The landscape and scenery (overlooking the Atlantic ocean) and great views along the eastern coast of Barbados, some of which are still covered by sugar cane (which was been burnt off whilst visiting the park). Sugar cane was the island's main crop during its colonial period.
Farley Hill house, formerly a mansion is now in ruins, tucked away amongst mahogany trees high on a hill. This is a nice setting and relaxing place. If doing an Island tour of Barbados call in.

This place has the potential to be nice but why pay for a view when you can drive round the corner to Cherry Tree Hill and get a better view for free? The staff on the gate were surly rude and lazy. Nobody moved as we drove through broken barriers to tell us that there was still a charge but soon put a chain across to stop us getting back out! The gardens and old house could be so much more if there was some information boards put up to explain about the history of the wonderful old building that we just had to assume was an old plantation house. Similarly there are some spectacular trees but again no information. Go to Cherry Tree hill instead where friendly locals are happy to explain what you are looking at.

Presumably the 3 staff at the gate were public employees, when Barbados depends on tourism you should be ashamed of your attitude

The Historic Plantation House was used as the set location of the movie Island in the Sun.
After the filming, the house burned I believe it was between 1960 thru 1980.
I head there is a fantastic view in the park but I couldn't get away from taking these photos.

If a memorable trip to the Caribbean is on your agenda, then do as we do, taking great care in choosing the right island! Barbados ticks all the requisites for us: Safe Island... Wonderful People…. Good Food... and of course... when we vacation in the Caribbean, we always look for an "authentic" local ambiance and charm, a Caribbean tropical atmosphere of remoteness & ruggedness, quiet secluded uncrowded beaches and beautiful tropical flora/fauna that contribute to a "Robinson Crusoe" destination. In Barbados, you can be as active (or not) as you desire.

No visit to Barbados can be complete without an Island Tour that includes a stop on Farley Hill. It is so exhilarating to drive along the winding roads, enjoying the fabulous views along the way. The vistas are gorgeous and present truly awe-inspiring glimpses of the captivating Barbadian coastline from Farley Hill. This is where you can "overlook" the wild Atlantic crashing against the rugged east coast of the island, showcasing some of its finest natural gems, the battered shaped rock formations that make this side of Barbados remarkable and unique.

All in all, a lot of fabulous memories! From the lush, tropical vegetation adorning the majestic rolling hills, the variously beautiful beaches, to its charmingly historic buildings in the downtown area, the intriguing island of Barbados delivers on the promise of an island paradise.

The ruins were just that, but the park was so serene, green and relaxing; there were people picnicking all over, but minding their own business.. there were some boys playing cricket and they allowed me to join in the game, quite refreshing really, it was a beautiful day! Thanks Barbados!

We were in Farley Hill on Sunday. We expected huge crowds, but between 1PM and 4PM, not much was going on there. The place is accessible by bus if you take the service to Bathsheba or Indian Grounds from Speightstown. It’s a park with old trees and the ruins of an old plantation house in the middle. To be honest it isn’t anything special, but the view to the east coast is quite spectacular and can reward the journey. There is an admission fee only if you arrive with car. Pedestrians enter free of charge. The restaurant was closed during our stay in Farley Hill and the vending machine with Coke was broken, so we regretted we had not taken anything to drink with us.

Follow the signs to the wildlife reserve and Farley Hill is across the road. Great views of the east coast from a distance, pleasant cool breeze, lots of the shade trees and interesting ruins. Entrance per car is nominal and bathroom facilities are available. Would make a great picnic stop for tourists and families.
