Beautiful ancient theater

We arrived a bit past closing time but the site was open and we had a chance to explore the ancient theater. It was awesome experience to walk the corridor passageways.

I have been to many ancient sites in Turkey and although relatively unknown and off the tourist trail, Miletus certainly didn't disappoint. I found the setting more scenic than that of Ephesus, there were no crowds of daytrippers and the entrance fee is only 10TL. As recommended in other reviews it is worth researching some background on the history of... More

Here we have an amphitheatre, roman baths/spa, market place, old ports (if you can imagine where the water used to be) and temples....this site has a lot to offer and is great in addition with a visit to Didyma too. Its quite a large area, our tour group was the only one there so we had a nice stroll around... More

None of the companies had regular tours to Miletus. They all offered us to be taken there privately, which was going to be expensive for us. We took the Soke bus first, and dropped in Akkoy village, which was around six kms to the ancient site. After waiting for a long time, we decided to walk there. The entrance fee is ten Turkish Liras.... More

We visited Miletus as part of a private tour of Priene, Miletus, and Didyma. Since this was a fairly large city at one time, the ruins are spread over a wide, hilly area completely out in the open without benefit of shade trees. Hardly any other tourists were there the day we visited. At one time a major port city... More

If you are on a trip that includes Ephesus, Miletus is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. It is a quiet site than Ephesus so you get a better feel for its antiquity.

This historical site is worth a visit on its own with a well preserved amphitheater to ramble in. BUT the key to this place is to go beyond the theatre and let your imagination see what used to be. All in front of you 2000 years ago was the Agean sea that washed the shores of Miletus. In front of... More

We visited Miletus as we had missed it on a previous visit to Turkey. It is not a single building or monument but a complete town which covers a large area, hence the walk. It is well worth it as it does help you to picture what a town was like at that time and the wild flowers (in May)... More

Very interesting and well worth a visit, takes a couple of hours leisurely walking to cover it all. Not much in the way of shade when you leave the main amphitheatre so take a hat & water.

Liked this site- big theater, well-preserved bath with statues. Was almost totally deserted when we were there. Hungry cat followed us around almost the whole time. Don't miss shopping in the old caravansari (very cool historic building) \- got a plate at a great place. Site was almost deserted. This is where the apostle Paul met with the Ephesian church...
