About Calhau Surf School
Calhau Surf School has its own facilities with changing room and lockers, located on Alagoa black sandy beach in Porto da Cruz and you can take a fresh water shower in the end of the session. The classes last 3 hours and includes all the technical material (board and wetsuit) transfer from/to Funchal (requires a minimum number of students ), insurance and in the end we make a photo analysis of the surf section, allowing us to register the student’s progress in each class and we specify what you have learned , done well and whats needs to be improved. Each instructor will have only 4 students maximum in order to better support them. We provides several packages to its customers from a one time lesson, to short courses. We have available packs combining accommodation in Hotel Vila Bela and surf lessons.

Great first surfing experience
This was the first surfing experience for our two teenage sons (15 & 19) and Rudi and his team were great. After getting into wetsuits, doing some warm up exercises, the team showed our boys some basic moves. Then it was straight into the water for over two hours of surfing. Our boys absolutley loved it and at the end of the session they felt quite confident surfing the waves. This is something they really, really, really want to do again. We would like to come back to Madeira and I'm sure our boys will be surfing with Rudi and his team again :-)…

Incredible experience
Beautiful experience, Calhau school offer a very very good training. Experience and capable teachers will talk to you thought and will show you, all the movents that you need to know. It was my first time and I manage to catch many waves, more than what I aspected!!! Great team work from the teachers. 100% I will suggested to everybody. A lot of fun guaranteed!!!…

HIGHLY recommend Calhau Surf School! Very professional and patient Instructor! Thes made me come again and again over my fear and unblocked my mind so that I was able to paddle out und take some nice waves!
