Madeira is different in some ways from the UK and animals is one significant way.
This is primarily advertised as a farm but I would give the farm brief attention and focus on these positives.

Visited the tea rooms, beautiful caramel cake with lovely strong coffee. Also tried the cider and it was really tasty. Cats came to visit while we were sitting, one jumped into my husband's lap and had a nap, cute. Lovely wee place.
