Stopped the Car while driving half way down the hill to Calheta Beach, found the Sugar Cane Factory, We had a good look around, all at our own pace, Had some Mel Cake and Coffee.
And then 2 glasses of Poncha.
We were just passing through Calheta after a Levada walk any looked out for it - no easy to spot on the main road and we parked on the road. There was no one there to act as a guide so we just walked around....More

Called in for a visit today. Good to see all the equipment still in use. Loves all the old photos. Tasted some sugar cane juice ,some rum and ended up buying biscuits, cake and a bottle of Poncha. Massive Madeira cake on show fermenting away.
