Not a lot to see but.... different and I liked the tasting session. The factory is quite hard to find as it is so "ordinary" looking and not where one would expect. It is just before the church as one exits the village.

It is a historic place where you find out how they were producing sugar. The entrance is free. Do not expect to see something huge. However, it shows part of the history which worth to observe and know.

This museum was a stop on our full day tropical tour of Madeira. The smell alone is worth the visit, not to mention the cheap samples of delicious rum, sugar cane juice and cake, now let me take a moment to mention their bolo do...More

We stopped here yesterday and were disappointed with this venue. It was decorated for Christmas inside but the only thing to see was two rooms with vats and and old sugar cane machine-no tours. We purchased a 60 cent cup of non alcoholic sugar cane...More

Well, you have to visit the rum factory. Its a must. A short 10 minute walk from Hotel Caheta beach. You can try all different rums upstairs for as little as 60cents per measure, and more than uk measure. Try the old rum. This is...More
