Snowcapped mountains; open pastures dotted with herds of yaks, cows, and sheep; and nomadic tents surround the crystal clear waters of Namtso. Unfortunately, I totally underestimated the weather there. It wasn't just cold, it was absolutely freezing. We hit -1 C even though it was...More

This is the holiest lake to Tibetans as they believe that there are a few deities living in the mountain ranges just on the horizon of the lake. To say that the lake is huge is an understatement. To get a grip of the vastness...More

Namtso is a sacred lake at 15,551 feet which makes it difficult to breath when doing anything but sitting around! It is worth seeing if you have plenty of time for the 5 hour drive each way from Lhasa. It is ringed on one side...More

This was an amazing experience: the landscapes on the way, the pass and views from the pass, the lake and the surrounding landscapes. The sunset views from the cliffs are nice and so was the morning khora. Not recommended doing Lake Namtso without proper acclimatisation...More
