A really disgusting place. Had to queue for 2 hours just to get on a damn cable car. The island could be a nice place but is ruined by blaring microphones of all the tour guides. But that isn't the worst thing. Seeing monkey forced to do tricks for humans makes it the most sickening. DO NOT go to this place.

We saw lots of monkeys, which seem to be everywhere on Monkey Island. Many seem very friendly, inquisitive, and hoping to get some food.

We visited this Island and it was great to see the monkeys jumping around and playing. Although it was disappointing to see the monkey show which seemed cruel. Better understanding of animals and how to treat them whilst allowing people to learn about them is very much needed!

Monkey Island and Dai Dai Island are two separate parts of one island located just off Lingshui Bay.

You can choose to visit either of the areas or both. We opted to visit only Dai Dai Island, so I can’t speak for Monkey Island.

Again, like most places in Sanya, this whole area is a tourist trap, so bear this in mind before you visit. Entry to the island is expensive – for Dai Dai Island the cost was 92 Yuan. Monkey Island is approximately double this. To get to Monkey Island, you can take the boat or cable car; to get to Dai Dai Island, you must take the boat. As I say, we only did the Dai Dai Island part.

I was quite excited about the prospect of a boat ride, until I discovered that it literally takes less than 2 minutes to complete. The island is so close that a half-decent swimmer could make it across with ease.

Once on the other side, you get in an open-sided yellow tourist bus (we were also offered a mini-van ride which we declined!) and after 10 to 15 minutes of careering around the side of the island you arrive at the Dai Dai area. The views along the way are quite good and the bus ride was pretty enjoyable.

Dai Dai Island itself is a stretch of coastline littered with various props (a pink bus, a pirate ship, some beach huts, etc.) put there solely for the purpose of taking photographs. It really is the perfect Instagram-ready location, and you WILL see countless Chinese couples taking shots in every conceivable pose.

We walked along the shore for 15 minutes (pretty much its entire length) and encountered a large rock with the waves battering against it. Quite a picturesque area, with far fewer tourists, and it’s good fun to climb on the rock and watch the ocean. Do be careful, however – the waters here are rough and swimming is definitely a no-go.

Once we’d walked back along the coastline past the Instagram props, we got back in the bus and were driven back to the boat boarding area. 2 minutes later, we were back in Sanya. Not a total waste of time, and as I say, the ocean views were very nice, but overall a rather expensive trip without much to it.

Had a pleasant trip to Nanwan Monkey Island. Went mid-morning but would suggest going earlier as the tour group hoards arrived just before lunch. Monkeys easy to see but make sure you don't leave bags unattended as they will be ransacked by the monkeys. Easy to get good photos.

So if your traveling from Sanya it will be about 1:30 minutes to get to the ticket office. I suggest you hire a local guide to get you there. Usually can find one through your hotel tour office.
Also arrive early otherwise you can wait in a long cue to get to the island. The cable car over to monkey island is actually the longest cable car ride in Asia!
Ensure you don’t bring any type of plastic bags with foods or drinks in it as the monkeys will rob you upon arrival! We were not on island for more than a minute when we saw this happen!
From the moment you get on the cable car have your camera ready you will capture some great photos on this trip.
On the island itself you will spend probably a couple hours at most. If traveling from Sanya expect this trip to take you half a day.

Visited this and very apprehensive after reading reviews. Did enjoy the cable car ride over which gives fantastic panoramic views.
Did enjoy the monkeys running around the park but thought the show was very cruel, this would be banned in the UK. But there lyes the problem the Chinese view things a lot differently and animal welfare is not high on the agenda here. Did not see any animal neglect my self personally but did feel a little bit uneasy with some aspects of the park.
Enjoyed some aspects of the park really disliked other parts of it. I am seeing this through a western perspective and do understand this but hope with education, some parts of this park can be changed and become more conservation led.

Very interesting and positive experience, monkeys are superintelligent and funny. One should be careful not to bring any food or pops (such as Cola, Sprite, etc.). Monkeys would definitely discover it and try to get hold of such stuff. Scratches or bites would follow. On the other hand, I very much disliked the show and monkey circus, animal cruelty is never welcome.

The park is 15 km far from the Lingshui railway station, around 70 rmb by taxi. The entrance ticket is 160 rmb (almost 20 euro, really expensive). The area is a penisula and to go there you need to take a cableway (the fee is included), I think this is the best part of the visit. Because the mountains here are amazing. Once in the park, you can see a lot of free monkeys and honestly at the beginning the situation looked like nice. The problem is the vigilantes inside the park used to shot with the sling the poor animals that were more courius and tried to go close to the guest. Also we saw one employee hit very strong an animal with a bamboo stick! And some animal had the collar with a really small rope, and every day they must hold a flag for the guest. I think is incredible in 2019 that park like this one are still open.

Firstly, expensive ticket but cable car are not well maintained Nor the safety of aligning and boarding. Next would be questioning the cruelty of chaining animal for performance. While they should belongs to the wild. There is even a monkey jail where there are monkey inside. The place itself it not huge to roam around with monkey are all around. Nothing much except for 2 shows. Should you went to the front to take photo with animal, remember it another amount to pay.
