Overview

History comes to life at Mont Orgueil Castle, which for over 600 years protected Jersey against French invasion. Explore the network of staircases, towers and secret rooms to discover hidden treasures. Every time you visit you'll discover a staircase you've not seen before opening up into a room where you'll find something new. Discover Hidden artwork commissioned to tell the story of the castle; Climb the turrets to find the medieval ‘wheel', and descend into the cellar to experience the exhibit. Life-size wooden soldiers guard the castle from attack and 'the wounded man' statue shows the fate that could befall those fighting to save the castle from invasion.

Expect to be surprised. This is a fantastic castle with so many hidden rooms and areas - take a picnic to eat at the top; although there is a café as soon as you get in. It is almost on layers with things to do...More

This hilltop castle will test your endurance as you make your way to the top, but the views when you get there are superb. And lots of sights to see on the way up and down so you can take a breather. My single moan...More

This castle is really big and up on a huge hill over the harbor. The views are great and the castle looks very old. The guide said the castle was the main defense until a time came when the range of cannons interested and you...More

I have never felt more like history is being made right now than during this visit. The ancient history and stories of the many transformations the site has gone through sit side by side with various relevant and topical pieces of modern art. There is...More

Really enjoyed this castle. Beautiful views. Plenty to explore. Friendly staff. Perfect for photos. Student discount a bonus. Didn't do a guided tour but it looked very informative what we heard. Lots of activities for young children.

We spent about 3 hours there enjoying all the different parts. We had 2 children 13 and 14, neither of them got bored. Something or everyone. A lovely place to swim just down from the castle too.
