This is a relaxing 40 minute trundle on a slow steam train through beautiful scenery. On arrival at Treignes at the other end of the line, there is over an hour to spend in the railway museum, or if you prefer, a walk into the...More

The place is pretty huge, and the staff walk around in era-appropriate clothing (without taking it too far, they are not re-enacting the past, they are doing a job that was done in the past in clothes from the past) It is really great seeing...More

We went to the "FESTIVAL VAPEUR" Steam train WE " Mariembourg - Treignes 24 september 2016. It was a wonderful experience. The old train wagons were tracked by a British World War 2 model steam train ( dated 1952 ). The steam, noice, smoke, the...More

Great fun for a family for an afternoon. Be sure to get the steam train as opposed to the diesels that also run during the day. The train museum in Treignes at the end of the line is fun for 45 mins while you wait...More

A superb museum with the exhibits well laid out and extremely well labelled in four languages. The technical translation was excellent and difficult to fault. Up to the standards of much bigger national museums – indeed better as the DB Museum at Koblenz is only...More

Back to the old good times of Steam! a great day ahead for all the family. The ride is great, the museum has impressive engines. Do not hesitate if you are a train-fan!

We were lucky enough to visit this railway during a steam weekend. There were numerous engines, not just parked up and lifeless but running and moving throughout the area. Unlike many countries the 'God of Health and Safety' hath not spoken. You could simply walk...More

About this great half day trip, there are a few things to know. First in Marienburg there is the steam loco depot, which is very authentic and interesting to visit. The other end of the line though, at the station in Treignes, is the real...More

We stumbled on this steam train by accident - if you plan to go, look in advance when there are steam (rather than diesel) trains running, if that is your objective. 45 minute ride through very pleasant countryside. Very helpful staff, volunteers who are committed...More

Unfortunately I didn't have time for a train ride, but the staff were friendly and you could wander around the impressive collection of locomotives, free of charge, and without any 'Health and Safety' signs you would find in England. The museum is not signed well...More
