With a city kid 8 years old who started off not liking nature, Chris did an exceptional job changing him (and us) for the day. The day started off with Chris picking us from our hotel in “Olympia” comfortable van with gears like boot, gloves, scarf, walking sticks, tea/coffee, calming chair etc. What we like is the amount of nature mixed with explanation of culture. The Mt Fuji shrine UNESCO site with the amazing trees including cedar, oak, red pines, the view of Mt Fuji with a short track to a waterfall in middle of freezing, the drive along the lake where there is not a single bad picture of Mt Fuji, stopping by Chris house to meet his wife Umi, visit to Dragon Cave, sitting in camping chairs by the lake side facing Mt Fuji sipping tea, visiting his French bakery, his fave Family Mart, lunch at Grandma restaurant etc The feeling is like Chris showing his close friends his neighborhood/ backyard - such a warmth feeling I had never felt before. Chris patiently answered our questions and forgave us for our ignorance.

Nikki, Nature has a special way of connecting with us and bringing us to a place that is always there. Nothing much better than ancient trees such as at Asama Shrine to awaken us to the beauty that surrounds us. Thanks for your kind review and sharing a day together around the mountain base. All the best. Chris

For our honeymoon in Japan we did some last minute planning and Chris was kind and gracious enough to accommodate us. His wife, Yumi, was our guide and we truly had such a lovely meaningful day where we forgot about our worries and were able to immerse ourselves in the beauty around us. Yumi went above and beyond and her poise, demeanor, calming presence and energy truly enhanced and made the experience special. The love and respect she has for the nature that surrounded us was very evident. The day was as clear as can be offering perfect views of Mount Fuji. We felt so comfortable and taken care of (even spoiled!) by Yumi who as a bonus took some amazing pictures. We had many moments that simply took our breaths away. My wife and I were truly lucky to cross paths with Yumi, Chris and Hidden Japan and hope to one day return. Thank you!

Paul, Mt. Fuji was really spectacular for your honeymoon adventure. We are really pleased that all of nature was at its best for you around our lakes and woods. Some days here are extra fine. It was wonderful to share such a special day with a lovely couple. Thank you for your heartfelt review. We hope you will visit again. Yumi and Chris

We had the best day with Yumi! It was a rainy/cloudy day in Lake Kawaguchiko so we were worried we wouldn’t have the best experience not being able to see Mt. Fuji, however the tour was far beyond our expectations. Yumi knew all the best spots to take us, had supplies at the ready for our numerous adventures, and was so kind and knowledgable about any questions we had. It was one of our favorite days in Japan, we felt like we got to experience the area like a true local!

Katelyn, The forests around Fujikawaguchiko are so vibrant in the rain and mist especially the Sea Of Trees-Aokigahara Jukai. Really pleased to share that. Thank you for your nice review. Hoping you will return to see Mt. Fuji in another season. Yumi and Chris

This was a highly personalised tour giving great insight into the history of the mountain and formation of the lakes. In addition to this Chris showed us not only shrines and Mount Fuji best viewing spots, but also the wonders of nature in the surrounding forests. We highly recommend Chris as a knowledgable tour guide.

Mr. Christopher made our trip to Yamanashi such a memorable one! We drove up for the weekend and were disappointed when we woke up Sunday morning to cloudy skies and a hidden Mt. Fuji. We were taking a walk by the lake trying to figure out what to do for the day when we happened to run into Christopher Battin and his tour van Olympia :). He took our family of 7 (5 kids ranging from 2-11) all around the Fuji 5 lakes area for the majority of the day. He brought us to so many hidden gems we never would have known about including a beautiful shrine, waterfall, flower park, bird sanctuary, dragon cave, and an amazing lunch at a local small Japanese village. It was the best day! He was so informative, knowledgeable about the area, kind and patient with our 5 kiddos. I can’t recommend him enough!

Joanna, Many thanks for your review of a very special day. It was my great fortune to experience the area together. Please tell the kids I saw the whole family of seven swans today gliding on Lake Kawaguchi. It felt like a reflection of all of you. Arigato. Christopher

We highly recommend Chris from Hidden Japan. We traveled as a family of 4 with kids 15 and 22, spent a day with Chris, and all of us enjoyed it so much.
Chris has a profound knowledge of Kawaguchiko area and Mt. Fuji, and is very well organized with everything you’ll need. (He has hiking boots and even warm socks and raincoats for everyone). So if you’re looking for a different experience and love nature, Hidden Japan is a great option.

11/10 service! He took us on a few unmarked trails, a waterfall, taught us a ton of local history, and even snuck us into the best little bakery in town. We only had a few hours till our bus back to Tokyo and he made sure we got back right on time to catch our bus home. Can’t recommend enough, whether you have a whole day or even a few hours free.

We had such a wonderful time touring with Chris! A patient and interesting guide who offered lots of detail and catered the trip to suit our wants and needs. Very comfortable, and well prepared - even had hiking boots available for visits deep in the forest without ruining our shoes! Chris was very patient and showed us hidden treasures we wouldn't have found otherwise. Very well organised and a pleasure to experience Mt Fuji with - much better than a crowded tour bus!!!

Wow! Visiting with two new friends (the tour operators) who ferried us all around the hidden jewels and gems of the Mount Fuji area. They picked us up at the station and treated us like visiting family members (your favorite type of relatives) for the day. All told, about seven hours of the best sites and sounds of the area. It was personal, It was fantastic. Thank you Chris!

Steve, We really enjoyed the pleasure of your company and sharing some special places around Mt. Fuji. The waterfall we call Mothers White Falls was especially wonderful and singing after the typhoon brought so much rain. I appreciate your kind review and the interesting conversations. See you next time. Chris
