600 yen to visit this cave and the ice cave. The walk in between them through Aokigahara Forest is beautiful. The cave itself is nice. There some examples of the local industry down there too.

If visiting Aokigahara Forest, I recommend stopping by both Wind and Ice Cave. First, I stopped at Wind Cave then walked to Ice Cave. I believe the entrance was ¥350 a person for each cave. Wind cave was not as busy as the other one. Once you descend into the cave, you instantly feel it get colder. Historically, they used this cave to store stuff, it acted like a natural refrigerator. The cave is small, I'd say 20 minutes tops for a visit. There is plenty of parking and a nice visitor center as well.

富士山の噴火による溶岩流によって出来上がった風穴の一つで、一年中0度～3度に保たれています。茹だるような真夏でも、入るや否や涼を感じますが、数分で上着が必要なくらいの寒さを覚えます！
江戸時代、富士山麓の風穴・氷穴から良質の氷が採れ、江戸の将軍や大名家へ運ばれたそうで、今でもここでは、氷の産出、そして天然の冷凍貯蔵庫として活用されています。富士山は自然科学の研究対象として盛んに研究活動が行われていますが、如何せん地上から見える部分に目を向けがち。こうした、長い年月かけて刻まれた地下の脈動にも目を向けると、如何に富士山とその一帯の自然の雄大であるかが感じ取れるかもしれません。
夏休みの、お子さんの自由研究の対象としてはうってつけだと思います。
ただ、洞窟内は非常に狭く、ごつごつとした岩が頭上すぐ上にあります。また解けた氷で足元が滑りやすくなっていますので、見学の際は細心の注意を払って下さい。

It is one of the caves created by lava flows from the eruption of Mt. The temperature inside the cave is kept between 0°C and 3°C all year round. Even in the middle of a boiling summer, you will feel cool as soon as you enter, but within a few minutes you will feel cold enough to need a jacket!
During the Edo period, good quality ice was extracted from caves at the foot of Mt. Fuji and transported to the shogun and feudal lords in Edo. Even today, the cave is used for ice production and as a natural freezer. We tend to focus on what we can see from the surface of Mt.Fuji. But if we also look at the underground pulsations that have been carved over the years, we may be able to appreciate how majestic the nature of Mt.Fuji.

Small cave, worth seeing if in area

Worth seeing if your in the area as it’s quite inexpensive and you can buy a double pass for both the wind and ice caves which we did as they are only 2mins drive/15min walk away from each other. The cave itself is not very big and the main Icey area is nice to see but not overly big and a big fence in the way. The area walking to the cave is actually beautiful in winter and we wound we took more photos in the surroundings than the cave itself

The Wind cave is quite small (and short). It's cold inside. If you're in the area it's worth visiting and admiring it, but it's not something excellent.

Nothing special here. It's a rock cave that takes ten minutes to Explore. If you visit the lake to see Mt Fuji, the caves can be okay for time killing. Otherwise, no need to travel to Any of these.

There's some interesting information here about how the cave was used in the past as a natural refrigerator. There was no ice when we visited.

This was our next stop on our journey around the area, a nice surprise, here is what we think:

Cleanliness: 5/5
Fun: 2/5
Physical Ease: 2/5
Value for Money: 3/5

It’s a good place to go with children, with a good rest stop. More suitable for parents with kids who want to explore. However it might be physically a bit challenging for some. A good to go, but not a must go.

Okay attraction

Interesting attraction. Would be more spectacular in Winter/Spring (most of the ice has melted in Summer Autumn) but the way the lava has formed is really interesting.

Beautiful forests surrounding fairly ordinary caves . Public transport is fine ( once we’d worked out tricky bus stop arrangements). Walking trail between ice cave and wind cave is worth the 15 minutes.
