Went towards the end of September, and there was no ice....which of course is the main attraction. Yes, the cave is cold, but when there is no ice, you just walk (crouching from time to time) to the end and back. A bit of lava...More

With a discount voucher, the entrance fee for adults is 300yen. Helmets are provided but the usage is not necessary. Once you go down the first flight of steps, you can feel the coldness but it is tolerable. The pathway inside the cave is wet...More

These two caves are 'related' - ice and wind cave. Buy a packaged ticket. Its an experience to walk, crawl, bend over to get thru the super narrow passages - hence the helmets. YES, you do need the helmets. They clean it, and its plastic...More

Heard a fellow bus passenger talking about the Sea of Trees & lava caves so googled it; so glad we did & got the opportunity to visit the forest & caves- unexpected extra must-visit.

Just what I said above. We used the combo-ride bus ticket and the wait for the buses is too long. I would not buy the combo ticket including the ice cave as the so- called wind cave (no wind when we there) has ice formations...More

It's a cave with some ice in it, much easier to move around in than the ice cave but none of the signs really explain anything and none of the audio is in English.

Interesting ice cave but wear a jacket as it’s cold... a natural refrigerator! Apparently the locals used to keep cedar seeds and silk worm eggs in here to preserve them

Interesting place to visit! Super cold. Remember to wear helmet and good shoes. If you drive, leave the bag in the car. It will be easier to navigate in the cave when you have nothing!

Nice cave. Amazing woodland. The ice cave is better. But this is also interesring. You dont need it to be longer though as it is quite cold down there ;)
