Never heard of this place before, but when we reached Lake Saiko ( near Gyominsou / 魚眠荘 ), we quickly realize that this might be the best Fuji-San viewing spot in the summer. This place was not too big and very quiet ( we visited this place on Sunday afternoon ), and the view from this place was fantastic.

You can easily reach this place by riding the Green Line Omnibus from Kawaguchiko Station ( stop no 73, or stop no 67 + 5 minute walk if you don't want to waste your time riding through stop 68-72 ). The ticket for the bus is JPY 1,500 for a 2-day unlimited travel, or in my case JPY 4,350 ( including the Omnibus ticket, and round trip bus from Shinjuku Bus Station = the Fujigoko Enjoy Ticket )

Saiko Lake maybe not as amazing as other lake in Kawaguchiko, but I love the serenity here. it has black beach where it feels like in Iceland (not entirely but still has that feeling). took a while to reach here if you go by bus because bus will only stop at the last station.

We took the green bus to Lake Saiko but it was raining cats and dogs so we took in the sights on the entire round trip. It was a mistake as the bus was crowded, stuffy and with the miserable weather the sights looked unappealing. The round trip took 1.5 hrs which included bacttracking a portion of the way - arrived back at Lake Kawaguchi feeling nauseous and glad to get off. Would probably be a nice trip on a sunny day.

Lake Saiko at bus stops 67/ 73 (green sightseeing bus), presents one of the best locations to catch beautiful Mt Fuji when the sky is clear. It captures the shimmering light reflections around 2pm-3pm with a clear majestic view of Mt Fuji.

I think that most people who visit the Five Fuji Lakes stay around Kawaguchiko because it's the most accessible. But if your're coming here, I'd recommend you rent a car (or a bike if you're so inclined) and visit Lake Saiko. It's less developed than it's cousin to the west and the drive is peaceful with great views.

It is not as large, and I read that mainly because there is only one vantage point for Mount Fuji on the northwestern tip of Lake Saiko, it is much less touristy than Lake Kawaguchiko.

Beautiful views abound from around the Lake. I feel that the mountains around the lake are no less beautiful in their verdant green, as opposed to the elusive Mount Fuji. Indeed an awesome part of the Japanese alps.

It is soothing to view the lake as the scenery changes as the bus winds along its perimeter.

A smaller lake compared to its neighbouring Lake Kawaguchi but there are a lot of great lookout points which showcase unparalleled views of Mt Fuji. Its a quieter and less touristy place to stay than Kawaguchi.

One of the five lakes surrounding Mount Fuji. Do visit if you are keen to see all the five lakes. It is just beside Lake Kawaguchi and is the second smallest lake compared to the others.

As a landscape photographer you’re out to look for vantage points that may include water in the foreground. Lake Saiko is one perfect place to take a picture of Mt Fuji. Period.
