Nice view of the surrounding, but not a unique place and much to do unless you’re a big Sound of Music fan. Great place for a walk in the mountains.

Yes it may be corny to sit where Maria taught the children to sing in the Sound Of Music but hey who cares. The views and the walk are fab. Do it you won't regret it.

It's a fantastic trail! The views are incredible! Plus, you get a workout. I loved this trail! It's a moderate hike. Just take it slow and enjoy the details!

We wanted to do some SOM hiking but made the "mistake" of driving up to the point indicated by Google Maps as the Sound of Music Trail, which was in fact the endpoint of the trail; the trail actually starts down in the village. So in the end my wife hiked down while I drove back down. Anyway, the endpoint is one of the most scenic places you can imagine, with views on the mountains with the Eisenriesenwelt cable car, and Hohenwerfen castle. So also for non SOM fans it is not a waste of time !

A must visit if you are a Sound of Music fan. The views are amazing and it is just cool to be walking through the scenes where the movie was filmed. The hike is nice but it is mostly uphill so be prepared. The road approaching the trail is narrow and twisty so drive cautiously and be prepared to yield to oncoming traffic.

The trail was a joy to do. I found the pamphlet in the hotel. Very surprised that there is one nearby the hotel. Off to Tourism Office. The route is well-marked. It was a sunny afternoon winding our way through the forest paths. Once we reached the clearing fields, the views are stunning. Just like in the film. Wow ! the exact spot where Maria taught the kids the song DO RE MI is fenced. The surrounding fields are so inviting to sing the songs from the film. I danced. I sung . I felt the film came alive. After the trail, one goes back to the Tourism Office to get your medal by showing " evidence " that you have been there. Made my Salzburgerland vacation the best ever !

It's a short trail, but uphill most of the way so it gets tiring. The path is easy to follow with many signs along the way. When you reach the top, go across the meadow for the nice views. (I saw a few people just go back down without going across the meadow)
It's a nice quiet place without tourists, great to have a picnic there. When I went in the afternoon, it was totally empty other than the cows.

The trail is rather steep at times but not too long. The signage is good and starts just outside the TI. It is well-worth the trip! The views are amazing! Very few people were around so it was a quiet hike. If you take a picture of yourself at the top and go back to the TI when it is open, you can email it to them and receive a nice momento! It was a beautiful day and a highlight of our trip!

We bought some sandwiches and snacks at the grocery store downtown and took the easy hike up the hillside to a nice picnic area. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed eating at the picnic table and then relaxing in the lounge chairs.
A few tips:
The grocery store is a few doors down from the TI office. Go to the meat counter and ask them to make a sandwich for you.
While there are some good signs, make sure and take not of the landmarks when making turns as there are other trails that spur off.
