Pemayangtse monastery is perhaps one of the best in country. The scenic beauty specially in the lap of nature is just awesome. Somebody can really experience the way of Buddhism here. The museum at top floor is also very good.

One of the main attractions in Pelling was also within walking distance from our hotel, The Elgin. Very spiritual, relaxing, and soothing. Spend some time there, closing your eyes and breathing fresh air, and enjoy the silence.

the location of the Gompa is outstanding. We visited it later during the day at 4pm and listened to the monks doing their prayers at the main hall. It was calm / serene and very peaceful. Unfortunately, their souvenir shop got closed at 4.30pm and we were a bit late. The paintings inside were so beautiful depicting the rich Buddhist culture. Must visit if one is in Pelling.

This monastry is very old and the Budda statue is really big. It is a good place to visit. It is very peaceful place

A serene place especially in early morning. It's quiet, neat and very relaxing.. the view of mountains with cool winds just make you let go of whatever is bothering you and you on your own become mindful..

This is one of the must visit shrines in Pelling. Also one can have a delightful view of mountains Kanchenjunga peak from here. There are old statues of Buddha and gurus and a chariot inside. The buddhist students are inside and taking training.

It's one of the oldest monastery with a small museum on top floor. worth visiting, however be prepared for a brisk walk.

One of the old and beautiful monastery. We spent our entire evening there. There is a small museum on top floor. worth visiting.

Is there a lot of uphill climbing to see the monastery ? As my knees are not what it used to be, I am trying to find easier locales to see.

Pelling is a lot of uphill and downhill. So not good for elderly or those with knee trouble. The good part is that car can take you practically at the doorstep of each location, including Monastry. Please be prepared for a little walking and climbing, not very hectic.
