About 2 hours drive from our hotel in Lachung, its a mesmerizing valley with beautiful views and absolute serenity. Though in October we found neither snow nor flowers, bu the location and remoteness of the place was mesmerizing in itself

Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim which is at around 12500 fts/3950 Mtrs is also often known as the Valley of flowers as because of all those seasonal flowers like Primulas all around the valleys and also the different species of Rhododendrons and Magnolias all around the valley. Yumthang valley at around 22 Kms from Lachung in North Sikkim is about an hour drive through the alpine forest of high coniferous and pine trees along with the different species of Rhododendrons all along the way which in time makes the trip amazing. The high mountains on both side is just so nice to see and experience.

This place is somewhat around 1 hour journey from small village yumthang and is almost heaven for nature lovers and u will find rhododendron flowers everywhere of different colours which makes this valley unique. If u wish to see these flowers in full bloom then visit in April end. Vvv scenic, cold and windy too. Sharing my pic at this place (note - visited this place in may third week , 2014). Though we could not go to the real Yumthang valley location as permit allowed only drop off at 8 km from Lachung on 23rd Feb. You can walk up another 3 km. But what was reachable was beautiful, snow covered and offered wonderful views all around. There was no need to go to Zero point as snow was there right on the road side. Though previous day was rainy, the day we went was clear and wonder why the army did not allow access little further.

Will first reach Yumthang valley, but suggest to go to Zero Point first and then while coming back spend time at Yumthang valley. Depending upon season you are visiting you will require alteast 2 hrs over there. March to June you can witness large variety of flowers - Rhododandron Sanctuary. You can also visit Hot springs - small houses are built near source of hot water springs and are generally occupied by persons with medical ailments.

It is at just two hour drive from Lachung. Beautiful valley, can see whole valley within 4-5 hours. One could have yark ride at this open valley. Locals are nice and helpful.
