Was being renovated when we visited, would be a good place to visit when done
Dec 2019
Quite of the way and a long drive actually, with nothing great to see after taking such efforts. Visit if enroute to Velas or otherwise. Was being renovated in Dec 2019 and from the looks of it will take at least a year to get done. No sense visiting while the renovation is going on.

Small fort at wonderful location and height
Dec 2019
This is comparatively small fort but built at strategically location to keep a bird's eye view on the sea below and land area. The 270 degree view of the ocean is panoramic. It is secluded place and no anthropogenic noise or air pollution. However, it is neglected by the authorities with no sign of keeping it maintained. We visited this place on the way from harihareshwar to Velas village, taking ferry from Bagmondra to Vesvi. From bagmandla we took our Car also on the ferry through jetty as we have to cross savitri river. From Vesvi to Bankot, direct route was closed due to some repairing work, so we had to take long route via Gudeghar. Route from Vesnvi to Bankot was not very good and reaching there was little tough.

Offbeat and compartively much smaller fort in desperate need of renovation ...However the spectacular panaromic view of the sea from the top more than makes up for it!

Nice little fort for a quick visit
Jan 2019 • Friends
The car goes right till the gate ..the road is quite steep though...combine it with velas beach just 3-4 km from it..the road between the two is very scenic along the sea..the fort itself is quite small n can be covered in just 20 mins..some nice photo spots..overlooks the bankot Creek.. archeological survey is restoring the fort so plenty of work ongoing..please search for Madhav Upadhye velas to Diveaagar on YouTube for the trip idea n things to do here..come from mandangad side n then after visiting velas n bankot, cross the creek by the ferry boat from veshwi to bagmandale n reach harihareshwar (just 3 km)..the ferry boat ride itself is a unique memorable experience.. feel free to drop a msg for any help needed/ local contact..

Amazing view. Fort in urgent need of maintenance
May 2018 • Couples
The Bankot fort is marvelous but in desperate need of maintenance. It offers an amazing view of the sea. This is an offbeat location for people traveling to Harihareshwar. The roads are steep and not well maintained. Worth a visit for people looking out for something offbeat.

Marvellous fortress but not well-maintained
Nov 2017
It's a comparatively small fort, strategically built to keep a bird's eye view below. The 270 degree view of the ocean below is panoramic. Being in an offbeat, secluded place, there is no anthropogenic noise or air pollution here. A woñderful respite.
What's heart-wrenching is despite being such a beautiful fortress, it is neglected by the authorities. I couldn't see any signs of keeping it maintained, its in need of urgent repairs and maintenance.
So disgusting to see how such properties of historical significance are neglected, which can actually turn into a money-spinning tourist attraction for the govt.

Good Location and view but not maintained
Oct 2017 • Family
One can enjoy travelling to reach this fort from harihareshwar. From harihareshwar one has to travel through local ship from bagmodla jetty. travel time is around 8-10 min. This is unique experience as people ca take their vehicle in ship and reach to other side. road is through small village and need good vehicle to cover steep and sharp turns. Fort is not in good condition, not maintained. very few people visit this place

Must Visit fort - Bankot
Jun 2017 • Family
This is fort is at an off beat location while travelling from Harihareshwar towards the Jetty. Initially while driving towards the fort we were a bit skeptical as the road was too steep however having a powerful vehicle like Xylo made the climb look quite easy.

On reaching the fort we were stunned by its beauty and wondered how such a beautiful location was not frequently visited by tourist. The fort is at the top of the hill and smaller in size compared to other similar forts but its the one offering spectacular views 270 degrees view of the Ocean.

On a clear day we can see crystal clear blue waters of the Sea with few small boats doting in it.

Fort also has a Cannon right at its entrance gate which takes us back to the era wherein how critical the fort location would have been for stopping the enemy ships from entering the interiors of the region.

The fort thought ill maintained has a huge water tank at the entrance providing clean drinking water for the tourist. Its advised to carry own lunch/ tiffin for the visit as their are no food stalls within the vicinity of the fort.

Overall its a great location to hang around with family or friends and shoot some memorable snaps.

Stunning views, but a neglected fort
Apr 2017 • Family
This small fort offers stunning views of surroundings.
Since this is not a famous fort, no crowds here. When we went there, we were the only three persons visiting the place.
This fort is in a neglected condition by the authorities.
This fort is in serious need of cleaning and maintenance.
This could have been a very good tourist place, if well kept. If not a tourist place, why don't we even bother to maintain our heritage structures.
