Kielder Castle's rooms have been given over to exhibitions explaining the area's Dark Sky status, with information, maps, stargazing tips etc. There are also rooms full of information about the area's wildlife, particularly red squirrels (the largest concentration of these little beauties anywhere!). Just walk...More

Always visit this place when we come up to Kielder for stargazing. They kindly allow us to hold stargazing event talks in the rooms upstairs which are always interesting. Have a little wander through the museum area, it’s interesting and creatively set up. Perfect location...More

After visiting the Kielder Castle Visitor Centre I came away with a sense of unfulfilled potential. It was informative but it gave the impression of being done down to a budget instead of being done up to a standard

Stayed at clear sky lodges just opposite the site so had a visit. The parking is up the hill by the bike hire shop. The castle is only a building with a tourist info centre which is not large and a tearoom. Bit disappointed overall....More

There's a couple of rooms that have been turned into a free exhibition and an adjourning cafe, but it just felt a bit underwhelming. Home baking was nice, coffee average. Came away none the wiser about the actual castle though. The maze down the hill...More

We had a quick drink while the rain passed through at the cafe in the castle. Perfectly acceptable and a good range of homemade cakes on display. Information was helpful; we did a couple of brief walks and enjoyed it. However, if you want to...More

We did not expect to see a castle in Kielder but there is and it has history. The visitor information centre is there and the lady we spoke to was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

Access to the castle and cafe is fine for wheelchairs. All of the exhibits have now been moved downstairs so it's all on one level.

No as it is not NationalTrust. You pay one charge and that allows you to park in all car parks around Kielder.
