About
The Spiritual Home of Scotch Whisky. Revived after 523 years. As custodians of Lindores Abbey, we have made a very sincere commitment to protect this important landmark for future generations. In 2017, spirit started flowing once again from copper stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery. Learning as much as we can from the great Scottish distillers around us, past and present, and from others much further afield, we are bringing a very modern whisky-making approach to this ancient site. We are open for Tours and you can book online. Refreshments need to be pre booked.

    Great place to visit
What an amazing place and the story behind their opening was incredible! I've never been a big whisky drinker, but I left there with a bottle because it was so good. Did a tour with our guide Ronnie and he was very in depth about the whole process, and history of the abbey and how the distillery started.
    Thank you so much.

    A unique experience.
A unique experience visiting the oldest but also the newest commercial distillery, steeped in history. The tour guide was excellent, he explained the distilling process very clearly and was very pleasant company. The visitor centre is excellent, and the staff very attentive. Overall an excellent visit.
    Thank you so much.

    Great tour provided by distillery
This was a very cool distillery tour. We arrived on a bus at 9:30 am. I cannot fault the distillery for this early morning tour, but I am part Irish and part English, so I had no big problem drinking early. I loved the history of the distillery, it location, and the highland/lowland tax line. The whiskey was good to me, but I am no expert. I am a mechanical engineer, so the process description interested me. The wooden and copper vessels were cool. Worth a stop on you tour.
    Thank you so much.

    Beautiful spot!
Really enjoyed our tour of Lindores Abbey Distillery and the history of the building. Our tour guide, Donald, did a great job. We found it informative and fun. Great design to the property and building. Convenient location to St. Andrews and Perth.
    Thank you so much.

Wonderful experience. Glad Rabbies tours brought oñus here
Donald provided us with a great reception and education about this marvelous property, the scotch produced at their facilities and the Aqua Vitae. There are 134 distilleries in Scotland. We have visited 8 and this is definitively one to visiti if you are in Scotland d and want to see the latest in whiskey production with all the history behind it. The abbey ruins date back to 1192. Their whisky and bottles are a piece of art.
Thank you so much for saying so!

Tour was fantastic and the drams were truly sublime.
My wife and myself have done a lot of distillery tours over the years and we would rate this as a very good and informative tour and well worth doing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was very dedicated and loved his job, he was a star. Weather was fantastic and the drams were truly sublime. A1

    Wonderful whiskey....
A great way to spend a couple of hours. The tour is fun and informative and the distillery has a great and interesting history. The distillery is relatively small but beautifully decorated with lovely little bar, apothecary room and gift shop. The outdoor area is nice (if the weather is good) and just over the road, the ruins of the original abbey (more than 800 years old) is well worth a look. Oh, and the whiskey is delicious too
    Thank you so much

    A Pleasantly Surprising Whisky Tour
A fantastic and informative visit to the distillery still in private ownership. It made a refreshing change to the normal big business distilleries and their corporate messages. The tour was enhanced by the tour guide Ronnie, who brought the history of the site and the current processes in clear descriptions and a bit it humour. The tasting at the tour end confirmed that they are producing a fine lowland single malt made from all locally sourced ingredients and we bought a bottle to take home and savour. The tour was dog friendly for the well behaved. If there was an minor improvement I would recommend a small cafe to make the visit complete. That said we’ll definitely be back with friends and/or family.
    Thank you so much

Ronnie was absolutely superb. He's the perfect example of what a distillery tour guide should be. Funny, informative, so so knowledgeable and understood his audience to a tee. Of the nearly 30 distillery tours I've done Ronnie is the best of them all. Thank you 🙏

Highly recommended, we took along the kids aged 8 and 9 who found the specific history and process of distilling at Lindores fascinating, indeed they both gave the experience a big thumbs up. Having visited numerous distilleries over the years Lindores did not disappoint, lovely location, offering a wonderful story and most importantly a unique taste to the relatively new Whisky being produced here. All the staff were lovely, well worth a visit and many thanks for our tour today.

This distillery may be new but don't be fooled, it is rooted in ancient and rich history.
Every product coming out of Lindores Abbey has been thought through and through, made with love, pride, and honour using locally sourced ingredients.

Whether you are a whisky connoisseur or can't be bothered with consuming alcohol, visiting Lindores Abbey is a must ! Worst case scenario, you'll know everything about making good whisky and learned more about Scotland history. Best case, you'll also have a taste of the great products made here.

The staff is nothing but lovely and our tour guide, Ronnie, was an extraordinary kind and funny man. Lucky that we were, we met with one of the (famous) Lindores Abbey's cats.

A wonderful time at Lindores, visiting the distillery with the best guide ever. Thank you Murray Stevenson for such a warm welcome and so many fascinating talks. The ruins are beautiful, the place is rich in history and the passion of the people working there is just fantastic. The perfect place to fall in love with whisky. Will come back many times and with many friends!

Absolutely incredible tour by Murray, we were really well looked after! Got an incredible tour of the site of the old monastery, and then of the distillery in its quiet period, so we could get up nice and close to the equipment.
We then were provided lunch, with the most amazing cauliflower curry I've had in my life, and a very intricate charcuterie board.
We had fantastic in-depth conversations about whisky, where any and all questions we had about whisky with great depth and knowledge.
Overall an incredible tour that we greatly enjoyed and can't wait to bring some friends and family up.

From the minute you pull into the car park and take in the stunning views of the surrounding area you know you’re in for a special treat. The welcome you receive from Stephanie is warm, friendly and heartfelt. The tour was easily one of the best I’ve ever had because it mixes 2 of my interests, history and whisky. A lot of time, research and skilled craftsmanship has gone into building this distillery and it resonates throughout the building and the staff who radiate with passion and pride.

As neither being particularly interested in History nor inclined towards the Nations tipple I approached the trip round the Distillery with apathy.
How wrong was I! The story to be told by the excellent Ronnie was fascinating and very informative.
The facility itself is tremendous mixing modern woodwork with centuries old stonework.
The dram at the end was a great way to finish the tour and I might now have a wee preference for the "water of life".
Kieran and myself give this 10/10.

Donald gave my friend and I a brilliant tour of the facilities, infusing the experience with details of the grounds' history, its current ownership and aspirations for the future. Lindores has brought together people from throughout the surrounding town to share in making something truly special: a modern distillery (on par with any other you'll taste/visit) that honours its centuries-old roots with charm and egalitarianism. Throughout the tour it was was that every one of Lindores' employees mattered -- not one more than any other. This was so refreshing to observe. And it was genuine. The corporate distilleries across the region are great, but there was something about Lindores that felt familial, warm, inimitable. Go -- go buy a bottle or two; it's darn good quality whisky. But, go and tour the premises and experience the work of art the people of Newburgh have created.
