While the gorge drive is stunning in itself and takes you through cute, small towns such as Matawai the stop at 'Tauranga Bridge' is well worth it.

Beautiful place to free camp. Heading south exit Waioeka Rd., cross the bridge, continue for .75 miles then turn right down the dirt road to a remote gravel beach.
