My family & I spent a few hours wandering around the castle. It was very pretty, we were the only people there & the children enjoyed running around & exploring. Definitely worth a visit.

The castle is part crumbling fortress, part Renaissance buildings. It seemed that the only way to see the inside of the buildings is by guided tour, and these occur in English only once a week on Wednesday at 2pm, according to one of the web...More

If you have to go to Chateaubriant (tough thing to happen). You must visit the castle. Really charming. Kids will love it.

We were given the best guided tour we have ever had anywhere by Anne, hope they raise your pay! It was pouring with rain but Anne carried on. The tour was riveting do go on it.

This is preserved to an amazing standard and so well kept it is in quite an incredible state. The grounds are so peaceful and the architecture beautiful. The extensions were added sympathetically which makes it so more interesting to imagine how it all came together....More

The castle is worth the visit. Take the tour, it's really cheap, we paid 6€ for 5 people (kids were free). You can visit the grounds free of charge, you just pay for the guide and the temporary exhibition if you chose to. The grounds...More
