The zoo is just mediocre, nothing much to write home about.
Some enclosures for animals were still under construction,.When we visited. The number of animals are also very few.
The safari is at 1500/- a vehicle with maximum 5 person to it. The duration is just 30.Minutes.

Pretty expensive safari, but kids will enjoy the safari for sure.
They have huge options and place for kids to play.
They have we'll maintained the Lions and tigers, hygienic conditions, and animals are healthy.

They do not allow you to buy tickets for the safari alone. You are supposed to get the tickets for the zoo as well. The zoo was nice, takes around an hour and a half to tour around. The safari was not that impressive, as it was quite evident that the tigers were tired. The safari doesn't give the feeling of travelling in a forest, rather I felt as though the tigers were released into the land just for safari purpose.

It is within city limits. A half-a-day plan is a good visit. Right now, over half a dozen, tigers and lions are sighted during safari. The safari drive would be about 30 mins. The park has plans to expand.

Absolutely shocking by European standards. The tiger safari is very short, we then went into another section with no tigers where a deer was enticed onto our bus and fed biscuits, deer do not eat bicuits. On then to see a lion kept in appalling conditions and mercilessly teased by the guide so make him jump up at the fence and roar so people could have their photographs taken. The place is a disgrace and should be closed.

Saw young tigers as young as 5 year olds. The staff were most courteous in stopping for a "Dekho". Fortunately we sighted two ageing lions but about 6 young tigers. Sambhars and Spotted deers were there too

The Tiger and Lion safari park is located at Tyavarekoppa, Sorab, Shimoga. This is around 10 KMs from the Shimoga city on the Sagara road. This was started in 1988 as Karnataka's second safari park, after Bannerghatta National Park.
Visited this park along with family last weekend.
Timings:-
Morning 10:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M.
2:15-5 P.M.
Tuesday is a Holiday
One needs to purchase entry ticket at the main gate for entering the safari park complex. This ticket could be used for the Zoo and Park entry.
Entry Fees
Adult: Rs. 30
Children: Rs.10
Car parking charges-Rs.50
The safari park also has notice boards listing the fee details for adopting various animals.
For the safari, separate tickets have to be purchased.
Adult: Rs. 70
Children: Rs. 30
Points to Note:-
1. The safari time is less than 30 minutes. One gets to see few lions and tigers in the enclosed area, barely few meters from the safari vehicle. It is a great sight to see the tigers relaxing in the water ponds if the safari timings are close to noon. Though it is less appealing when compared to the Bannerghatta National Park in this aspect, one should admire the way this park is managed by the Wildlife department.
2. Apart from safari, there is a small zoo with different types of animals and a play area for kids.
3. Watch out for the monkeys
Due to the paucity of time we could not visit the zoo and the park area. However we had a nice time with kids enjoying it thoroughly.

Located around 10 km from shimoga town. There local buses available from shimoga which halt at this place. There is fenced bus which take you around Jungle to view Lions And Tigers in open. The children would love this.

Is there a booking or a help center to pre book a tour..
Written 21 July 2019
No there is no pre booking facility...there will not be a need as it isn’t very crowded and the safari and zoo isn’t very big. Very rare waiting period for safari maybe 15 to 20 minutes

I am planning to go to this place tomorrow with my kid of 3years, will it be safe? what would be the ideal time to reach here & how much time we can spend here? is there any restaurants nearby?
Written 28 December 2017
Yes it is fully safe.
It opens from 11'o clock morning i think. I prefer you to visit @11 only and take the safari ride first, as it takes an hour for a ride. Then you can take a walk around the zoo.
There is a canteen there. But i dont prefer to have food there, as i didnt like the quality there, accept that there is no canteen/restuarants nearby.
The place is nice and it have a park to play for childrens under 10years. u can spend nice time walking over and there.
have a nyc visit..:)
