In fact I visited this divine monastery & village in Sept 2015. On 26/03/2017 I could able to reach up to Langza only due to heavy snow. All the high altitude villages Kibber,Langza, Hikkim & komik can be visited in one day. For trekkers home stay facility are available at all the villages, Credit goes to Himachal Government for good roads & all modern facilities in these villages.Breathtaking stunning beauty around these attracts every nature lover.
Komik village & monastery is at an altitude of +4500 meters.
I am lucky I visited Lahaul ,Spiti & kinnaur 4th rime.

We made a day tour from Kaza to visit Langza, Comic and Hikkim. What a wonderful landscape it was and will remember it for a long time to come.

Komic is situated at a height of 4587 mtr and has population of 114 Nos only.

The monestory is a normal monestory with few monks staying there. In winter few of them stay and other move to downward places.

The monastery is very small and what I did not like is - women are not allowed inside the main temple. There wasn’t much to see inside and even though the outer structure is huge, inside only a small room is open for visit where max 5-6 people can get in and stand. The cafe outside is overpriced. We paid 100 for a tea instead of 20.

Komic is the “Highest village in world connected with motorable road”. Komic which literally means “eye of a snow cock” (Ko – snowcock , mic – eye), is a remote village in Spiti valley, its around 2kms from Hikkim village. Komic village is situated at an height 15027 feet above sea level. Like most of the villages in Spiti valley, most of the residents of Komic practice Budhism. There is the beautiful monastery, This is known as The Tangyud Monastery (also written bTang-rGyud, Tangyuth) or Sa-skya-gong-mig Gompa. It is one of the highest altitude gompas (monasteries) in India, this monastery has a history of 800yrs old.

loved Komic! the monastery is simple with incredible views, not just at the monastery, but on the drive up and driving down the other side. (now that was almost better than Komic itself!!). we passed through the village and purchased amonites (fossils in stone) from local children, who delighted in their small sales and rushed off to count their profits. all in all a wonderful and cannot be missed experience. (the road down, is high, winding, places to stop, walk ahead of the car if you can, just amazing!!!

my wife and i visited this monastery in first week of April this year. The approach to this place is extremely adventurous with gorgeous views. You can easily spot the ibex , mountain goat, vultures and yaks and if lucky, then even the elusive snow leopard. When we visited, the surrounding views looked like straight out of Game of Thrones set (north of the Wall), with the landscape completely covered with snow.

Both my wife and I visited this monastery last year in July. The Tangyud Monastery or Gompa at the village of Komic, two km southeast of  Guljin in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh , India, is built like a fortified castle on the edge of a deep canyon, with massive slanted mud walls and battlements with vertical red ochre and white vertical stripes which make them look much taller than they really are. It is one of the highest altitude gompas (monasteries) in India, at an altitude of 4,520 metres (14,830 ft), on the edge of a deep canyon and overlooking the town of Kaza, Spiti, 4 km to the west. It is located on the periphery of the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary.
