Situated at a height of 7500 to8000 feet , upper Bakrota has many residences which were built during Brtish times by Elite Families including top gentry or Punjab . Their successors still live during the season as place becomes unapproachable from November to March due to harsh cold and heavy snowfall . Rather than staying at Hotels, one should opt for home stays in Bakrota Area. It is the most serene and beautiful area of dalhousie away from the hustle and bustle of Gandhi Chowk and other commercial areas of dalhousie.
