Whilst I cannot speak for ever retailer in Margao market, the proprietors of Babu tea are indeed a reliable and courteous people. If you buy tea there you will be shown a price list. But it is best to ask how much the tea is per 100gm. Most of the teas are within in a similar price range with the exception of white tea which is very expensive and will cost about £12 per 100gm. Newcomers to Goa getting used to the Rupee can find it a bit of a learning curve. Some retailers will begin with a price about three times as much as could be considered to be a price fair to both the seller and the retailer. Other retailers begin much lower, and still others sell fixed price goods. Look on any item you are buying in a shop to see if the Rupee price is there. That is the price you pay. Given my experience of Babu tea it is reassuring to know that you can purchase at this outlet and be respected by honest traders. I am looking forward to gifting tea my friends when I get home and enjoying a cuppa myself.

Lovely helpful lady and VG section of flavoured tea. Alas no S Indian or Ceylon but I still managed to come away with a kilo of Robusta coffee beans and a kilo of Darjeeling tea. Now to get it home! Keep an eye on your kids as they can get lost easily in this v busy narrow alley warren like market full of treats for the eye.

Hi we visited babu's when we where in goa it's just in the market on the left gate 2 very cool shop with lots of choices of chai it would have been nice if you could sample some before you buy like when you try a sample in beer in the pubs defently worth a visit to the rest of the market too

visited the Babu tea stall at the Margoa market this afternoon. So many different teas and such beautiful aromas. Settled on a chocolate chai and a mango chai tea to take home to Australia as a present for our daughter. The fragrance is amazing, and can’t wait to taste it. The lovely shopkeeper gave us some rose tea to try at home, and the room smells like roses, and taste is sublime. Can definitely recommend this lovely shop.

Area in the market was not clean as it was rainy season, the shop though small packs lot of varieties of tea.

The market itself, is a very interesting place, especially for people from Europe. From fruits, spices (!), sugars, indian clothes, shoes, etc, etc. you will find what you need. If you want to buy tea, in the shop "Babu Tea and Coffee" you can find what you are looking for. They have an endless list of teas. Everytime when we are in Margao we stop in that shop and buy different teas. The limit is always the volume of our luggage.

It was 31st December 2017, when we arrived at this market. Market was closed but with the scents in the air, we reached the Babu Tea Shop. On reaching the shop we realised that the aroma indeed was due to the wonderful Teas in this shop.
We bought Rose Tea/ Mango Tea/ Pineapple Tea and Strawberry Tea. While buying, I was a little skeptical that the Tea will actually taste as good as the aroma. However the tea when we prepared, it was more wonderful than the aroma.
Myself a non-drinker of Tea has become a regular with the Tea we bought from here.
In short, an amazing place to buy some authentic India Teas...
