Winding boardwalks and concrete trails along the shoreline of the Liuxi River section of the park on a very warm July morning made for a comfortable “hike”. Calm blue water with fish lazily dining on surface entertained us as did the bird life. Few amenities in the park, so expect a nice walk and the need to entertain yourself.

We went here on a day trip with family out of Guangzhou, from memory it took around 2 hours to get here.

We got onto a boat and motored around the lake, taking in the sights before landing on an island containing peacocks which we were able to feed.

From there we moved to what we referred to as monkey Island ... which speaks for itself. The island is covered in monkeys, which scurry down to the dock as the boat approaches. It seems they have eaten most of the eatable plants on the island thus their main source of food is the peanuts (which you buy before getting onto the boat for around Y5) and what ever else they are able to steal from the tourists or the boat.

There are also a markets selling traditional chinese foods, as well as rat jerky!

Its a wonderful day trip, we took a car, but I am not too sure how to get there by public transport? Well worth the time to get there!

On the way back to Guangzhou there is a number of mandarin orchards along the road, you are able to stop and pick your own, I cant remember how much it cost, but it was next to nothing!
