We visited in the peak summer and took the government van ride into the forest. Most of the foliage was dry-thanks to the hot summer. The ride is bumpy and the van rumbles noisily with every tumble. Nevertheless, spotted deers, dhol (wild dog), peacocks and peahens, and a grand tiger that was cooling off at a water body. It's true-spotting... More

Drive inside jungle was superb from mysuru to ooty via madhumalai. In afternoon booked bus safari (Rs. 135/Person) but it was waste of time and money. View of any wild animal is always game of patience. You will find only dearsa dn few birds.

You don't need to book the safari in advance. I prefer you go to the place and have the tickets purchased from where the safari would start and moreover you get an option to choose and opt the timing. Online tickets force you to pick a slot.

The forest ride offered in Bandhipur is said to be better than Mudumalai ride. We were lucky to sight many wild animals like elephants, bison, deer and a tiger! The driver was very knowledgeable and help us to sight many wild animals. Do not miss this ride if you are visiting Masinagudi.

Bandhipur Tiger reserve is a place for people looking for a true jungle stay experience. There are government cottages available that can be booked online. Jungle safaris are available in busses and open jeeps as well. When I was looking for the information related to Bandhipur (stay, safari etc) not much was available online. Also the information that was available... More

We stayed at the BRT houses that we can book online in advance. Most of these houses have 2 rooms with 2 beds each. Each room costs 1000 per day. They are well maintained and have attached bathrooms in each room and one common area with sofa and table. The safari is through jeeps or buses. Jeeps cost around 3K... More

The reserve is unique in the sense that is bisected by the highway. All vehicles going from Mysore to Ooty have to cross this national park. It opens at 6 am for the vehicular traffic and closes by the evening. The safari is conducted by the forest department. It is open in 2 different times of the day, 6:30 am... More

Had a chance to visit Bandipur forest while travelling to Ooty from Mysore. You can spot Elephants, Deers, Peacocks easily. A lot of luck is required to spot Tiger though.

Had the great fortune to see a male/female pair cross the road very close to our vehicle. Also a huge variety of birds, several species of deer, elephants, monkeys, gaur, and other creatures.

Visit to the Bandipur Tiger Reserve was indeed memorable. This was a study visit with BNHS but it had all the Jungle Visits and lot of luck on my side for viewing the various aspects of the biodiversity. It is very important to respect the jungle, be optimistic and positive on any such visit. At the same time, do not... More
