Nice walk along the front, bright February day, you could see across to Wales. Lots of birdlife. A few shops but mostly all apartments, gone are the little cottages where you could buy potted shrimps years ago. Free parking near Boathouse, you need to book...More

Downloaded the Parkgate circular walk. Very interesting. Walks along sea wall and back past golf courses and over open countrisde. Lovely to take one's dog to. Seemed to be really popular even though we went on a cold blustery January day. Parking free on Parkgate...More

I always like going to Parkgate, just strolling along the front wondering if you'll decide to have a delicious ice cream from one of the two shops which have lots of different flavours, or if you'll visit one of the eateries and enjoy a hot...More

Fish and chips on the (admittedly silted up) seafront was lovely, views for miles over to North Wales was spectacular too.

Although the tide only comes in twice a year here it is still beautiful looking over the silted up estuary towards North Wales. A meal at the Ship and an ice-cream at Nichols are musts . If you've got time walk all the way to...More

Visited this place on and off for 50+ years and never fail to enjoy its special tranquility and lack of overt commercialism. For the uninitiated Parkgate was a small port on the River Dee in ancient times, but as the River Dee has silted up,...More

This is an idyllic place to visit and indeed to live. The front has ever changing views of the Welsh hills and the amenities are up to date and varied.

The "seafront" is a marsh that constantly smells of everything that is lurking around this massive cesspit. On your normal day you get a view of Wales. They recently cut some of the mess so you could walk near the wall. This is of no...More

We went by car and were not aware of there being a rail station at Parkgate. Check with rail company online. Bound to be one nearby.

I think if you get off at Neston (or Heswall) the 22 goes via Parkgate. If you have a look on the Merseytravel website you should be able to get the info there about the route operated by Avon. Hope you enjoy Parkgate... More
