A magnificent exhibition about the creation of Frankenstein by Shelleys wife. The various explanations given by the guides are all very interesting.

Super cool place and special exhibit for 200 anniversary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with detailed guided audio tour. An excellent collection of ancient papyrus, with copies of the Egyptian Book of the Dead and even a Gutenberg Bible on display! The Library has just been entered in the register of World Heritage by UNESCO for its collections so if literature... More

Beautifully located overlooking the lake. This is a famous collection but I rate it poor as at 15 CHF admission is in my view expensive. The female narrator on the (free English version) audio guide is laughably bad - a malapropism twice repeated was the 'conversation' instead of 'conversion' of St Augustine, and every other sentence provides often hilarious mispronunciations.... If you're interested in books and manuscripts, or history in general, this is one museum you don't want to miss. From Ancient Egyptian papyrus to the first Gutenberg Bible, with first editions from Avicenna to Shakespeare and from Newton to Hemingway. Every item on display is a masterpiece. The museum's location, on top of a hill, overlooking Lake Geneva, is... More

this is a fabulous small private museum which costs 15 CHF and has many priceless rare books back to the 3rd century as well as other manuscripts. There is always a temporary exposition in the basement. Very handsome grounds. easy parking

Located in Cologny, neighboring Geneva, with parking limited to 15 spaces, the Foundation is accessible by Bus A and Bus 33 from Geneva, and provides a welcome antidote to today's e-books and Kindles because it traces the history of books with real examples. The earliest are hand-written documents from Egypt on papyrus. Skillfully written and meticulously illustrated books from the... More

My friends and I went here as part of the "Night at the Museum" package in Geneva. Our driver got lost on the way here since it was quite far from the city centre, but it was definitely worth the long trip! The collection had first edition books that are extremely rare the find! From the Guttenberg Bible to the... More

Just returned from our visit. Take note: opens at 2 pm. The Philippe Taille Tea Room on the corner was a great place for refreshment and WC. The audio guide is included in the admission and tells you more than you would ever be able to absorb. One of the 30 remaining Gutenberg Bibles, one of 3 remaining Luther's 95... More

This museum, in the village of Coligny, just outside Geneva and reached by the 'A' bus, is absolutely phenomenal. If you are interested in books, it is an absolute must. Not only is Coligny a lovely spot (great patisserie, beautiful homes and gardens) the actual museum and its gardens are wonderful. But the real pleasure lies in the basement of... More

The Martin Bodmer Foundation Museum is a jaw-dropping experience for anyone who loves creative thinking, be it literary, scientific, mathematical or musical. We went expecting maybe a few clay tablets with writing and some examples of writing through the ages, but spent the afternoon gasping in amazement at the riches in this collection. The entire collection contains 150 000 pieces... More
