Outside Santiago, only a 45min drive on excellent highway for most of it, the delightful winery Vina Tarapaca ex Zavala is set in a sometimes misty Maipo valley surrounded by the Andes. And truly, a river runs through it. It's a beautiful setting with a delightful manor house that rumor says you can reserve a room at, though I've been unable to find it online. We were on a day trip from Santiago with a group. After driving past vine covered hillsides (with the occasional cactus) we arrived at the winery--first for a tour, and then for a wonderful lunch of grilled meats, salads, plenty of excellent wine, and delightful hospitality. The wines are very enjoyable--an excellent white, lovely Cab and very nice Carmenere . The grounds of the estate include sweeping mountain views over fields heavy with grapes, a very picturesque small church built for the winery workers, the winery facilities and an ivy-covered manor house, fountains and water garden, pool, small pitch and putt golf course, and grass airfield. It seems like it would be quite a nice romantic getaway for a weekend outside Santiago--very quiet. If you figure out how to book it, do post a link! I'd love to return as an overnight guest.

My wife and I stayed here as part of a group of wine lovers from the UK on an organised wine tour of South America in late February 2008.
This is not an hotel - it is probably best described as a small corporate events venue. It has 19 bedrooms and their dining table room can seat 18 comfortably, there is also a central enclosed courtyard area where breakfast can be served. Breakfast was also served on the terrace along with afternoon tea. In a separate building near the swimming pool there is a pool table room and a lecture room.
The previous reviewer says it all - and it was a wonderful relaxing time, very peaceful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I have no idea of the cost - but I do not think it would be excessive. If you need a corporate getaway weekend near Santiago I thoroughly recommend this venue.

This is a great chill out centre. Located in the centre of a large wine estate with manicured lawns and tree lined walkways this country house mansion excels in service. We stayed for three nights in Feb 09 whilst touring local wine estates. There's plenty of (idle) activities to be done ranging from carriage riding and trekking to golf and lazing by the open air pool and some amusement in the activities of the wide range of avian life around the nearby lake and gardens. We sampled, at various times. all the wines of the estate and were well satisfied. Meals were served outside on the terrace barring one evening meal and were a joy. Our room overlooked the splendid gardens and had a comfortable bed, very nice colonial style fittings and a large en-suite facility (which unfortunately had a serious drain problem)

Very nice tour, which began with the gentle reception of Joanna and driven by the expertise and friendliness of Claudia, who accompanied us through the vineyards and tasting. We did a harmonized lunch in the garden near the pool and close the main house. The atmosphere was wonderful. Finally, they made us feel at ease in the garden to relax before returning to Santiago. Fantastic experience. I would do it all over again.

We went there for lunch as part of a convention. The place is beautiful and resembles the Loire Valley. Food was fine, nothing extraordinary. The visit to the winery was simple and unhelpful. We wanted to buy some bottles of wine, but somehow they did not show us their store.

I was there as part of a social event organized for a large group of people attending a conference. The welcoming and the tour offered by one of the people working there were excellent. We also were invited to taste some of the wines produced there. The Carménère was a real discovery for me, since it has disappeared a long time ago from France. The house looks really inviting for a week-end stay (at what price though ?), and the barbecue dinner was delicious. A must if one wants to know more of the Chilean ways of life...

Had been to Tarapaca for the wine tour a week before. This wine happens to be one of our favourite and drink it a lot at home. So this visit ment a lot to us.The visit was vey interesting and the wine tasting was really interesting. Claudia the guide was ever so nice and informative. We were supposed to have three glasses of wine tasting, but we enjoyed it so much , she added an other 2 different tasting . We spent quiet a couple of hours there. We enjoyed this peaceful place so much that we asked Claudia if we could organize a lunch there, and she suggested a day by the pool and a BBQ. It was one of the most pleasant and relaxing days we spent while in Santiago. Upon our arrival we had a horse drawn carriage waiting to take us for a ride. Then we spent the day swimming in this pool surrounded with lush gardens and vineyards. It was paradise. We had the old manor for our use too. While we were sun worshiping and swimming , we were served wine which was flowing , then was served a scrumptious BBQ. Lots of beef, chicken, pork, lamb and different salads. Of course more wine. We enjoyed the food tremendously. Afterwards we all went and sprawled on the massive lawns. A truly memorable day in a beautiful place surrounded with great people. Thanks once again Claudia. Hope to see you again next year

The visit started off a bit rough with a communication error for our reservation. However, once things were cleared up everything was spectacular. We went for a wine tasting which happens in a large estate mansion that is now a hotel and a popular site for weddings. The location is just beautiful! The wine and the tasting experience is also great! I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Good wines and an excellent private “two step” lunch (paired with two different bottles) in this beautiful 1874 house (“casone”) with awesome italian style (tuscan) furniture and decorative pieces. Thanks to Mrs. Gabriela and to the entire team for the reception and hospitality.

We did a fantastic tour, tasting, and 3-course meal at this vineyard. The location is absolutely spectacular and the guide was knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions. Most of all, we absolutely loved the wines!

Pode me ajudar? Super obrigada e um abraço.
