    A real achievement to complete.
A very challenging hike. It’s hard work going up and chilly on the top. It’s a great achievement when at the top and fantastic views all the way up and down. I would recommend being very prepared with water and snacks for the hike. The hike can take up to 4 and a half hours depending on level of fitness.

Main attraction in Stirling Range NP
A sealed road leads in to commencement location of the Bluff Knoll walk where there is parking, toilets and park information. It is a popular walk and has a well maintained walking track heading up: the walk itself is not to be under-estimated, come prepared. We walked about half-way up: the views were spectacular and the walking to that point not so difficult - quite steep with plenty of steps, but well maintained. Plenty of interesting flora around to.

    Great adventure
Had a great time doing this trek with my son. It was my first time and it was steep in places, but if your fit and used to walking you will be ok. most people could do it if you take your time. Maybe slippery in places. There is some natural water springs along the way, but recommend to carry at least 2 litres. the view was amazing at the top. Sometimes visibility can be poor due to the clouds, but we were lucky.

Category 4, a decent level of fitness is required, take a rest break as you go if you need. Lots of steps & climbing. Take a walking pole to help, good for the downward walk. We didn’t take any but we were prepared with water & good shoes & lunch when we made it to the top. Very well maintained track with spectacular views.

Not an easy hike by any means. Me and my partner have average fitness (he works retail and I work a desk job - to give some perspective) and found the trek up very challenging. There's steps the whole way up, with some being big steps and some being small steps. Took us about 3 hours to get up there and 2 to get back down. We were in no rush and stopped quite a number of times to take breaks on the way up. My number one tip would be BRING HIKING POLES or a good walking stick. It helps to boost yourself up the bigger steps and you can use it on the way down to take some of the weight off your knees.
Wear good walking shoes (we wore Merrell's and they were fantastic) and bring plenty of water. Also bring lots of layers, we were very hot and sweaty going up but once you get past a certain height it's suddenly freezing - we were glad we brought gloves, balaclavas and jackets.

We did the hike mid October and set off up the mountain at 2.30am to be up there for a 5.30 sunrise. The view at the top was absolutely beautiful! It's definitely great achievement when you reach the top.

We did the dawn hike hoping to catch the sunrise at the summit. We departed from Albany at 3am, with Bluff knoll approx. 1.25hr drive from Albany, we arrived at the ticket machine and car park around 4:15am. Note that the ticket machine ($15 per car or if you have multiple day pass for WA national park passes you can enter into Bluff Knoll with that pass assuming it is still valid) is located at the turn-off from Chester Pass Road and then there's another 5-10min of driving to the actual car park.

Toilet facilities are located on the north side of the car park with several picnic tables located around the car park. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking gear depending on the weather. We wore water proof jackets and hiking shoes as there was a chance of a slight drizzle. The hike was challenging with majority of the hike being on wide steps. There were hardly any horizontal sections until close to the summit. There are summit route indicators along the way and paths are clearly marked. Allow 4-5hr for the return trip, we were not very athletic so the hike up took us 2hr and down 1hr. We did rush on the hike down to meet other time commitments in Albany.

The view at the summit was rewarding, it was a clear day for us but a chilly and very windy 5 degrees at the top.

Would definitely recommend the hike!

Really cool spot! Make sure you are there very early in the morning, as that is the best chance to get the great views. If you start your hike later in the day, you risk warmer weather and a harder climb. You have to be lucky to get the clear sky when you are the top. The park rangers were great, friendly and will deffinitely answer any questions you might have and offer some great tips!
