Castell'Arquato is a very picturesque medieval burg on the foothills of the Appennines, well worth a visit if you are staying in Milan, Piacenza or Parma. I'd say that it's good for family trips, kids love castles and there are a good many places for a meal, a snack or a drink, both in the lower, modern town, and inside... More

Castell'Arquato is a wonderful and well maintained old village located in the Po valley at the foot of the Appennini mountains near Piacenza. It is good for a day visit, not far from Milano. Very good and typical restaurants are in this location.

A magnificent historical village which we enjoyed visiting during a Medieval weekend event. There were Market stalls leading from the Castle down the cobblestone streets to the centre. Lots of handmade crafts for sale. There were musicians and jesters. The little shops and friendly locals helped make it another reason why we should return in the future.

Castell'Arquato is a beautifully preserved medieval town, complete with castle, church and civic buildings. It's an ideal place to wander and admire, and to do so safely as traffic is mostly banned from the town and confined to the outskirts. There are several good restaurants, too. One piece of advice - it's worth taking a few 50c coins to light... More

Very special and unique. Would love to have stayed some nights on the property of Castell Arquato as it is a relatively large area with small and cozy hotels. We were there 6 of july and there was hardly anyone there. Lovely!

Nothing grand about the castle , but it's truly old and with a lot of detail Some castle costs 5 euro as entrance , globparello castle costs 15 euro to get in , and it's 23 castles in this area... I have asked them if they have discount for student , the answer is no. Because it's private property ,... More

If you have the opportunity to be around, tale a day to visit this place. You will be enchanted. Medieval small village, well kept, many interesting original places to visit and to remember. Beautiful and friendly people, good food at honest prices (excellent wine). Far from the madding tourist crowd, this village will surprise you.

I love this medieval village. It doesn't have the tourist traffic you will find in Tuscany but it's like a beautiful labyrinth on the hill. The Rocca has a very interesting torture museum as well as great opportunity for some beautiful views of the surrounding hills and vineyards.

Battlements, battlements and more battlements...... in fact, there are a thousand of these precious relics among the hills between the plains of Emilia to the foothills of the Apennines. This is where we find ourselves today, and let me assure you, its well worth the journey. Judging from the imposing 4th century fortress that dominates the valley, Castell'Arquato must have... More
