About

- jrroadkingTacoma, Washington4 contributionsGreat restorationWe wanted to see this impressive looking castle without really knowing any of its history. Having seen it in person I am even more impressed by the work that went into its restoration. The castle's commanding view of the countryside from its lofty perch is overpowering, from battlements and its numerous towers. And it was all brought back to life by the vision and resources of one man and the team of builders. Highly recommend a visit and walk through. Thanks for your review. It's a very beautiful and impressive castle, used as the famous Highgarden castle in Game of Thrones. It's a shame that they only have a few references to GoT in the castle - they could have made it much more interestingThank you very much for taking a few minutes to rate us positively. - Paddy13 contributionsAlmodovar Castle visitAn amazing find and well worth a visit for a couple of hour's. It was beautiful to look around and plenty of signs to read and videos to view with English translation. Also good if you are a Game of Thrones fan.The only issue if there is one, is it is out of the way and you need transport but we went via taxi from Cordoba. Also need to bring own drink. But cafe down the hill if you want a walk.Good morning, thank you very much for your visit and your review. We have several drink machines inside. The special July schedule is only specified at the bottom of the website, where they close at 3.30pm. In the middle of the holiday season. Many neighbors tell you that the schedule contemplates the afternoon and other websites assure you that they have afternoon schedule. Anyway, we ate around town making time for the visit when someone happens to tell us it can close at noon. I call on the phone to make sure and I get an employee telling me that it is 3 p.m. and the best thing is that we do not go because it is closed already even if it officially closes at 3.30 pm. Anyway, we didn't go or give them a chance to go. We will not return or recommend it. There are fantastic castles throughout the national territory

Super nice castle on the mountain. Beautifully restored and today the scene of a medieval scene. Welcomed by the jester and musician, we enjoyed fighting knights, an extensive BBQ and beautiful views. Game of Thrones is not my thing, but I understand that this is a very nice place for that series.

I couldn't have liked it more. Excellent. In fact, I was there for just over two and a half hours. I took my time. But it is a very complete castle, you can see several explanatory videos, the different Towers have their exhibition part, a collection of very interesting ancient swords, models, etc.
They had a beautiful Christmas decoration and a magnificent Nativity scene in the Church. It is also true that in Andalusia they take Christmas very seriously.
I must also highlight how well organized a school visit was, they did not bother the rest of the visitors at all. I congratulate you. There is no doubt that children often teach adults.
I absolutely recommend visiting this Castle. And if you like walking I recommend going up on foot, the perspective you have of things walking is different and not by car. They also have a small marked route, almost upon reaching the top, which if you like to walk becomes interesting.

A great half-day out. I visited on a Sunday morning and could see the castle perched on top of a hill from some distance as I approached. The box-office staff were very friendly and gave me directions on where I could lunch after my visit. The castle was a ruin which was rebuilt by the then owner with the assistance of an architect historian. There lots to see: Banqueting halls, a dungeon, and battlements to walk along and admire the view of the surrounding countryside. There are also costumes worn by the actors from the television series, game of Thrones, which had some scenes filmed in the castle. Recommended.

Magnificent castle located at the top of a beautiful Cordoba puelo: Almodovar of the river. It is a castle restored by a private individual ingeniously and masterfully. Scenes from the Game of Thrones series were shot there among other series and films. We will definitely return for that pending lunch with their majesties and the castle butler!

We have been to the medieval days and we have been delighted. The super beautiful castle. The day was very enjoyable and we loved it. My daughters really liked the performances, the tailoring, the jesters... In short, it is worth attending the events. And even more so in such a privileged environment.

Spectacular castle remodeled at the beginning of the 20th century by a philanthropic aristocrat who returned the entity to this castle then in ruins. You can climb all the towers, walk around their perimeter and enter the different rooms, some recreated with the ways of life of medieval times. The videos that tell the history of this castle in an educational and entertaining way also stand out.

Very well preserved castle. Awesome visits.
With the QR code you can listen to the audio guide.
There was a medieval fighting tournament.
You have to leave your car on an esplanade below and take a mini bus up.
It's worth seeing, it's impressive, although it's a bit expensive.
It is not accessible for people with disabilities.

This medieval castle is easily reached from Córdoba town, only 30 km from there. It is very big and impressive and one of the locations of Game of Thrones tv program. It is on the top of the hill. So many towers and rooms to explore. Suitable for everyone.

Written 22 July 2018
When we climbed the hill early in the morning, we arrived at the top and the castle was closed. They open every day at 11:00 am, every day of the week.

Muchas gracias
Written 15 May 2018
