This time we visited 渡嘉敷島👉🏻Tokashiki Island!🏖️🗾

Tokashiki Island is part of the Kerama Islands, located in Okinawa, Japan! 🗾✈️🌺🏖️

Tokashiki Island is the largest of the Kerama Islands and is a paradise for diving! The sea at those islands is so beautiful that It's called "Kerama Blue" making it an excellent place for diving!!

It's a destination that definitely should be in your bucket list😍🏖️🗾

You can get there by Ferry or Express Boat(Marine Liner) both departing from Tomarin(port) at Naha🌺

The Marine Liner departs at 9 am and arrives around 9:45 am 😍🏖️🌺
(Round ticket is 4,800Yen)

If you're visiting Okinawa is definitely worth it!♥️🌺🏖️🌊🗾🇯🇵

Let's discover Japan together! Let's GO! 🙋🏼‍♀️🎥🇯🇵🗾🌊🏖️✈️💕

Tokashiki Island is a beautiful place! Despite the fact that it's only a 30 minute high speed boat ride from the main island of Okinawa.

You can go on a day trip, but I recommend to stay overnight. The stars are incredibly beautiful at night, and you can enjoy whale watching in the morning the next day.

There are plenty of whales to see on this island. The guide staff look for whales from the mountain and contact the captain by radio. There is a high probability that you will see the whales.

I also recommend renting a motorcycle for a few thousand yen a day and going around the island. There you will find a beautiful, undeveloped, ancient landscape.

If you're looking for a beach getaway in Japan this is a perfect spot. It only takes about 40 minutes from Naha (on the quick ferry) and there's plenty of good guesthouses or camping options. Loads of good food, some great hiking and views of jungle, blue seas and golden sands wherever you look.

The clearest and cleanest ocean ive ever been. This island is 35mins away from Naha by boast. It is 100% worth to visit. They also have the best okinawa-soba.
If you are going on winter time, I highly recommend to go wheal watching. I used Tsukino-tsubasa. The high light of this tour was the guide gets really excited every time he sees wheals more than anyone else!
You wont be able to swim at this time of the season, but you will def love the experience in tokashiki.

The beautiful Tokashiki island (as part of of the Keramashoto national park) is just 35min (by speed boat) or 70min (by ferry) from Naha, but it's not heavily visited at all. Based on other's suggestion, we chose to visit the Aharen beach and it was indeed excellent ! From the beach, one may take a boat (1000 Yen/person, round trip) to the Hanari island, which is just several hundred meters outside the beach. There are two small peaks to climb on the Hanari island, and the views from top are just fabulous! There are coral reefs around, great for snorkeling. Recommend 1.5 -2 hours if care to snorkeling.

After returning to the Aharen beach, from the "Youth center" one may get to a pavilion (vista point) to the north of the beach. It offers some awesome panoramic views as well !

From the vista point, note that there are 2-3 smaller beaches further to the north -- they are worth visiting too ! There were no other tourists on the day of our visit -- so we had the place all by ourselves for a few hours! The water is clear, sand clean, views beautiful, and lots of sea shells ! We spent a couple of very relaxing and memorable hours there... (took the 4pm bus for the 5pm speed boat back to Naha.)

It's definitely the best day-tour for our 5-day vacation to Okinawa! Will visit it again next time ...

35-minute turbulent speed boat leaving at 9 am from Naha's Tomarin gets you to the island for a little under 5000 yen return - best check JMA website for potential high wave warnings. Bus right out of ferry port takes passengers to Aharen Beach 4.5 km away in 10 minutes for 400 yen on a windy/hilly road. Paid lockers/showers available and a couple of tour stalls for snorkeling/paddle boarding/glass bottom boat open when the bus arrived (but not later). Busier than Zamami maybe because it was a Saturday but not more than 30 people scattered on the beach late December. Despite the forecast being 17-20 degrees Celcius, water was perfect for swimming after getting over the initial shock, warm with the sun plus some fish and corals close to shore. If you have sports sandals that can get wet, continue right, climbing over rocks to access pure unadulterated nature - barely anyone on stretch after stretch of sandy/rocky/coral beaches. Kubandaki View Point right next to Aharen Beach (not signposted) offers amazing 360 degree views of beaches on either side. Time passed by quickly so we didn't explore other areas. Bus back to Tokashiki Port leaves at 4 pm, in time for the 5 pm speed boat back to Naha. Two souvenir shops at Tokashiki ferry terminal but didn't really see other open shops around so still best to bring your own food - actually lots of shops/restaurants around that might be open during busy season from April to October but not December.

Tokashiki is the closest island to Naha; fast ferry takes you there in less than 45 min. It is a pure paradise, as most of nearby islands are. If you come to Okinawa just for 2-3 days Tokashiki is the best choice: ferry schedule lest you stay there from 5 to 7 hours, and you don't waste time on the boat. At the port there are buses taking you to Aharen and other places - everything is well organised. Once you get there - you don't want to leave and keep coming back. Consider staying overnight or two or three nights...

We stayed on the island at Marine Palace Hotel. Take the banana boat ride out to the small island ($10 USD). It is worth it. The coral and fish are great here. Bring your Go Pro or under water camera. A life jacket might be good if your not a good swimmer, but anyone can do the snorkeling here. If staying in Naha, make a day trip out of it using the ferry.

Don't be fooled by the lifeguard sitting there and no red flag....every year people die swimming on this beach. My husband and I visited in September, we are both strong swimmers and visit many beaches for snorkelling. When we arrived the bus driver said the waves were a bit high so the water wasn't so clear....there was no mention of danger. We soon realised that swimming was extremely dangerous, rocks were hitting our legs and my husband was bowled over by big waves. After researching this beach (Aharen) we found that every year people have died here. Also, there is no way to get to the other beach so we were stuck here for the day, unable to swim due to the high waves. We think they should have flags showing clearly the danger and inform people clearly. Please take care!
