After travelling in Japan for almost three weeks, we want to end our trip in a quiet area before going back home. We ended up in Teshima island. According to the coffee shop guy in Uno Port, Teshima is like Naoshima 10 years ago, it is on the raise. We stayed for two nights. The beauty of this island is... More

This is a beautiful, small Island in the inland sea. I visited on a beautiful autumn day whenthe sun was shinig and the weather as perfect. I hired a bike and rode between villages. It was lovely. Quiet. Peaceful. Life without the rush of modern living. Worth stopping for some hours and catching up with yourself.

My husband and I are typically drawn to urban locations so this was a change of pace for us. We had gone for the Setouchi Art Trienniale and throughly enjoyed the island experience. We walked all over and immersed ourselves in the landscape. Well worth a visit.

I arrived early on the ferry and hired a semi electric bicycle to explore the island. Lovely views from the highest points on the island.

The ride on a ferry to Teshima is a windy but beautiful one, even in the fog. The Teshima Art Museum has two of the best exhibits, one by Rei Naito, one by Christian Boltanski. It is an island that can be walked, passing many local houses in this small seaside village.

I've only been to this island just to get to the Teshima Art Museum. So I've just covered Ieura port and the museum. The island itself seem to be one of those islands, nothing to write home to, but Teshima Art Museum makes this place an unforgettable, lifetime experience space. Even though the old mean staff at electric bicycle rental... More

A typical Inland Sea Island but with the most amazing art installation called Art Space or Teshima Museum. You can get a rental car or an electrically assisted rental bike to get around, otherwise there is an hourly shuttle bus. Commit to spending a long time there as getting to and from the island can only be done by infrequent... More

This is first time to visit this small island. You can access to here from Okayama(Uno-port) for 30 mins. You can find another small island during the short trip from ferry. This is small island so you can walk around in a day, but it's also recommended to rental "power assisted bicycle" which is available at port. Enjoy !!

It was a little hard to figure the bus and ferry times, Teshima isn't yet quite as smoothly set up for tourists as Naoshima, but having said that, the locals were all very friendly, helpful, courteous. The bus driver dropped us off and recommended a very good Japanese style restaurant, Shima kitchen, and two locals walked us up the road... More
