A fabulous half day spa experience after walking the Kumano Kodo. Easy to get to by public transport. Bus stop is a 2 minute walk away. I spent hours here in the selection of indoor and outdoor hot baths, getting a massage, then having lunch and souvenir shopping. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have been to about 10 different onsens in the last two weeks in Japan. We found this is the best so far. Many different kinds of onsen pools which are not found in other onsens, like an individual onsen container, spa onsen, mild carbonic acid (ph 5.4) onsen, etc. Many local people come. Staff speaks minimal English.

I have visited this onsen a few times because it's such a great experience. It is well laid out and run. The changing rooms are big and there are plenty of washing areas inside the onsen. They have a wide variety of baths to choose from but my favourites are the ones outside as I love being under the open sky. They also have a TV to watch when bathing outside! The only issue is the limited number of stools in the mirrored area in the changing room when you want to dry your hair or apply make up etc.

The Toretore no Yu is next to the Toretore Market. I wanna have a relax after the whole day walking in Shirahama. I’ve checked there was so many natural onsens in Shirahama. But I wanna look for one near by the station. In case of the last bus gone(19:00). The Toretore no Yu is perfect. There have many different pools and outdoor onsen. Especially the price is friendly. Good for relax.
