We visited the Sandambeki Rock Cliff just adjacent to the 千疊敷 attraction in Shirahama. A ticket needs to be purchased, and it is quite expensive- cost 1300 yen per adult (650 yen for children) due to the fact that the manufacturing for the 2 lifts...More

Sandanbeki consists of three steep cliffs with a large network of caves at the water level. An elevator is talken down to the caves, which has a shrine inside and a network of tunnels.

Visited this place - was curious based on other recommendations. Expensive ticket (1300y) to take the lift down 35m to below the cliffs (pirates cove) but worth the experience. Very nice rock formation and wave erosion action. Took a stroll on the TOP of rock...More

An elevator gets you down to the caves that actually pirates lived there before! The entrance fee is a bit expensive. The waves keeps on bouncing when you are down in the caves. When you go outside, the view over the cliff is great.

I arrived the cliff around 5.00 p.m. All street foods were closed, the cave was so. So sad. The weather in mid May was so great.

A bunch of beautiful rocks by the sea, you see one, you see them all. There are facilities nearby for tourists, and shops that sell you junk.

The view from the TOP of the cliff looking down was a sight to marvel at Mother Nature. The elevator ride personally I felt it's not worth the time and money.

I really like Sandanbeki cliffs, the rocks were different and to walk around was difficult even for me. Just lots of levels of rocks, so do leave a little time to go there
