We made a quick stop over to visit the Yamazaki Distillery on our way to Osaka from Kyoto. We booked the self-guided museum tour in advance. When we arrived, we picked up our badge and off we went. The tour is self was pretty cool. You get to see the rich history of the Suntory Whiskey company and all of... More

We booked our tour well in advance - months in advance - basically as soon as the website opened the period we were visiting for reservations. Kids aren't allowed on the tour, but they can hang out in the lobby/museum area. The tour is very well done, and the English audio guide is fairly close to the tour guide's Japanese... More

We visited the distillery without a tour because even though we tried to book 6 weeks out, there were no reservations available over the three day range that we are in Kyoto. We did the next best thing; book for the museum. We were really disappointed by the lack of information in the museum and the lack of choice in... More

Great tour. Easy walk from the train station. Make sure you have reservations. Nice tasting afterwards with 4 shots.

Easy to reach by train. Nice reception, but reservations are necessary! Book well in advance if you have the chance. The facility can process large numbers of visitors, but you still have a nice personal experience! The tour was in Japanese, but an English guide device is available. Very nice tour, you can take photo's were you like, nice tasting... More

We hit the Yamazaki distillery on the last day of our Japan trip!! It was a truly memorable day!! We managed to get a reservation on a guided tour inside the distillery and got to taste different blends, guided by experts. It takes about an hour from Osaka to get to the distillery at an easy pace. The Sakura was... More

Stacey (my fiancé) and I toured this at the recommendation of fellow travelers on our stay in Kyoto. There are a couple of options. A self-guided tour and whiskey tasting and visit to the store(free unless you taste or buy), a guided tour with tasting ¥, and a distillery tour with tasting ¥¥. Recommend booking spots well in advance if... More

My husband is a massive whiskey lover, so we couldn't visit Japan without enjoying some of it's fantastic whiskey. This distillery is just 15 mins by train from central kyoto, and really well signposted from the station. You need to book ahead to enjoy the guided tour and it is well worth the mere 1000 yen price for the tasting... More

While we were not able to time our visit to join the private ¥1000 tour, my wife who is the whisky fan thoroughly enjoyed her unguided visit to the distillery. For her, she could sample some very hard-to-buy years (Yamasaki 25 and Hibiki 30) at a fraction of the price of any other whisky bar whether in Japan or elsewhere.... More

A tour on the single malt scotch tour near Kyoto. Took the local train and stopped at Yamazaki town. The facility is easy to find because there are signs in English. Nice tour with English hand wands. The process is similar to a Napa winery. But ,a nice tasting of several scotch--good gift shop with selected bottles. Recommend.
