This is a large and well resourced centre with information about Shiretoko National Park. There are several short walks although these were closed due to recent bear sightings when we called in. The centre was informative however and we found the information we needed on access to the five lakes on the way in. We called in again on the... More

We came by the Nature Center as it is the starting point of an easy hike in the National Park. Unfortunately, the trials nearby were closed due to sighting of bears. The Center itself was very clean and has information in English about the National Park. This is where one should start if visiting the Shiretoko National Park for the... More

In a beautiful modern building the story of the wildlife of the Shiretoko Peninsula are told. Life-size bears and skins adorn the viewing areas. Models of birds, seals, foxes and deer complement the myriad of the most beautiful photographs imaginable. Not just to look at, but touch and feel. All this combines to give the intrepid hunters, with cameras, a... More

A good spot to visit when arriving in Shiretoko especially if you didn't study much the area in advance. A lot of information available and very helpful staff to answer your all kinds of questions. Nice wide and tall screen movie showed regularly in a nice movie theatre for reasonable price about the four seasons of the national park. Worth... More

It is necessary to stop at this nature center to start on the traditional hike. Watching a video about bears is also required for the hike. We didn't feel nervous about bears since there were many other guests. This nature center, and all the info centers we visited were well prepared and very helpful to English speakers.

If you have the time, do visit it. If not, forget about it. I think most information can be obtained from Web. The Center is not very attractive! The view from the center is not good. Shari Tour Bus make a stop here and that was why I visited this place. If you travel on your own transport and time... More

A very nice walk under the sun. Better bring a hat or umbrella if you concern of UV. Generally it's less than an hour to and from the museum. When I get to the first lake, I was stun with its beauty. Up to the first lake it is free and you can do at your leisure time. If you... More
