For Tokashiki island, I wanted to post some of the informational signage I saw that may be helpful for English speakers. We took the express ferry from Naha, and we had a couple rental cars (as there were 8 of us). A lovely, HOT day. Be prepared for intense sun, especially on the beach.

We visited this amazing place with high hopes and expectations and it has surpassed our dreams. The water clarity, cleanliness and visibility are superb, unspoiled nature with all of the comfort you would expect out of exemplary Japanese hospitality.

We understand the respect of japanese towards this national park.

From Zamami we launched our tours to Aka Island - 10 min by speed boat and cycle all around. It was fantastic!

It is hot and the sun strikes merciless so make sure to take precautions and drink lots of water and relax in the shade.

If you are looking for party, crowds or resorts this is not your place, but if you are seeking for a great time, adventure, a safe place with great service do come and be respectful of the locals and their place, don’t forget to thank them for taking care of paradise and letting us visit.

Our 11 y/o daughter and friend went scuba diving. Taken down by a guide (without certification). They were very safety conscious. Made me wear a life jacket, which I eventually convinced them to let me ditch. In reviewing a previous reviewers comments about not being world class, I disagree. I too just visited the GBR in Australia 9 months ago and have been to the South Pacific and Carribean (Bonnaire, Curacao, Belize, etc.) and found the snorkeling to be quite good. Not as much colorful coral as the GBR, but saw turtles and more vividly colorful fish than I saw in Australia (we snorkeled plenty there). We had 3 stops, our friend saw a sea snake (luckily it moved on). Part of the reason there were less fish is that fisherman are allowed to take from the area. With that being said, the snorkeling had excellent visibility, good coral and a good amount of fish. Definitely several notches above Hawaii. About a 1 hour boat ride from the main island, so very accessible. Compared to the very best snorkeling I have done, I would say an 8+ out of 10 and I have high expectations.

This was a family excursion for us with an 11 year old child. The purpose was a half day Snorkelling tour. The Islands are so beautiful and the water is so clear! You can see so many colourful fish in the water as well as beautiful coral! If you are lucky, you can see a sea turtle in the wild. We will definitely go there again, hopefully for a whole day tour.

Very clear water, lot of colorful tropical fish and coral reef. Easy accessibility. Just take about 45 min by speedboat.

We took a 1-day snorkeling tour to Kerama Islands. Coral and fish were sparse compared to Great Barrier Reef, Maldives, Thailand, and Indonesia. Not bad, but if you've snorkeled at world class sites you won't be impressed.

Soooper place.. If you wanna enjoy it, just get a ticket from one of the diving clubs and go for a dive in Kerama. No need to know swimming. Just enjoy your leisure and have fun in one of the most beautiful waters in the world. Must visit and a must dive place even for beginners.

Very clear waters with abundant sea life and not too far from Naha. Tokashiki is only 30 min by speed boat and Zamami - 1 hour by speed boat. Better options for staying and eating on Zamami though. Tokashiki is bigger.

Perfect diving spot. Spent a day diving here but would've loved to have stayed a few days camping or in a small hotel and lounging on the beaches. Worth a visit or 20 visits!

Travelled to Zamami Island twice while visiting Okinawa. First time by fast ferry (50 minutes), 2nd time by regular ferry (2 hrs). It was by far the best experience that I had in Japan. 2 days at the beach and since it was off season, virtually no one around. While snorkelling saw a Black Tipped Reef Shark, many varieties of fish, and the largest Green Turtle that I have ever seen (compared to Hawaii and Mexico). Food places are only open minimal hours, with only one very small grocery store available on the island. I recommend trying to have lunch as I had the best Okinawan Soba and the coldest beer of anywhere in Japan.
